Plastic Tofu - Sundowner
Some songs bring with them an inevitable chaos and it is deliciously inviting, like Sundowner by Plastic Tofu. The Chicago-based punk rock singer-songwriter harnesses his power to decode the fabric of life and writes it into his songs thread by thread. The incredibly raw singer-songwriter aims to pay tribute to the punk rock genre while also pushing its boundaries little by little. Punk Rock is one of those genres that really is all accepting; it loses the idea of purity, almost ridding itself of this pressure to conform to a single, more particular sound of rock. The track packs a punch right from the start, with a kicker of a guitar and drums combo. You hit the floor running with a divine instrumental pairing like that. The new-age punk rock artist flaunts his talents in this single by showcasing his vocal prowess. While his vocals does have a touch of gentleness to it, it is undeniably gritty and raw, enough to carry and propel the song to new heights. The track is peppered with a little bit of pop and techno that gives the song a real edge in the genre. The track would oddly work like a charm in Kung Fu Panda 1, particularly in the training sequence. Plastic Tofu really captures the essence of this idea that life is more than the trivial things that bother us on a day-to-day basis. Reminding us to earnestly, shamelessly, and fearlessly live our lives. You can live vicariously through him and his work by clicking on the links attached above.
