Ye Angst- Play
With a breezy chime, Play by Ye Angst announces itself and all you can do is surrender and lose yourself in the adventure. The pulsing song, shimmers and glistens and it has you admiring the way it playfully shines. The energy of the song has a way of engaging audiences of all ages. The song opens with a drum-symbols and a strings section that immediately awakens a part of your brain. The child in you leaps out when you hear “Round round round you go.”. The build and the way the guitarist bends the notes to his will deserves a tip of the hat. The song progresses, swells and subsides. Creating a dynamic ebb and flow that has the listeners on the edge of their seats. The guitar and the drum work is particularly impressive, with searing riffs and intricate solos, elevates the track to new heights. The quirkiness to this masterpiece can be seen in Jojo Rabbit as well. Added to this, there is an interesting trivia. The screenplay for the film was written by Taika Watiti in 2011. Play was released in the same year as well. Jojo Rabbit is filled with amazing cinematography. The fact that you see a quirkiness to Nazis, must have you intrigued. The shimmering quality would fit well with Jojo’s character and Taika Watiti’s style of direction. There is a Catharsis in Play amidst all that “out of the box”ness that it carries. Ye Angst isn’t giving you any powerful riffs or eccentric trills, but rather he stretches out his hand and offers you to play with him. The fact that he released it over ten years ago and it still resonates so deeply with his listers, undoubtedly demands your attention.
