Herbie the Rabbit - Burn the Witch
There is a beautiful meeting point between rock, contemporary music, and synth, and that is where Herbie the Rabbit exists. There is an air of mystery that surrounds the artist, and Burn the Witch is the only song they have up on their Spotify playlist. From the sound of it, it is evident that Herbie here is a lover of amalgamations; by the sounds of Burn the Witch, their latest and only release so far, they sure do know how to build suspense. The track isn’t messing around; we hear contemporary keys and strings unite forces, begging us to make way for the vocal that casually trots into the music. The vocals are as cool as a cold morning in December. There is a nice play with the warmth of the instrumentals and the coolness of the vocals that brings out the alt-rock vibrancy of the number. The track takes the scenic route with the guitar solo that it has; it clearly has indigenous influences that, paired with the electric guitar, just pack an extra punch and allow for the song to end with a high. The track emits the imagery of something emerging from the ruins of a cemetery, like a revival or a resurrection. The themes of coming together and resurrecting are predominant in a series like Supernatural. This might be a reflection of what Herbie the Rabbit might be going through themselves, with the fact that they have already formed a connection with the audience. Burn the Witch might be their only release, but Herbie the Rabbit has been on the scene for a lot longer, evidently. This might be their phoenix-from-the-ashes moment as we eagerly wait and see where they go from here.
