S J Denney- High Flying Birds
4 h : 10 min

S J Denney is a UK-based singer and songwriter who centres his work around alternative folk-rock. He started his journey as a Church Boy who played the Clarinet. S J naturally gravitated toward Rock music, which significantly influence his work. You can see how much he values the classic with his Elton John-like texture in High Flying Birds S J Denney’s latest release- High Flying Birds follows Wishful Thinking, another single. S J plays with perspective remarkably well in his music. We see this In High Flying Birds too, from the perspective of melody, it feels jolly. Especially with the way the song blooms in the beginning with the strings, the tangerine and the piano. The instruments' tone, the gospel-like layering, and the choir cushion you into safety. But with soul-touching lyrics such as“I don’t need your sympathy. it just reminds me that I’m all alone in a world of my own.” it leaves you lonely. He related more to birds than humans. The way the orchestra engulf’s you with its beauty is like a wave welcomed in an ocean. This quality truly sets it apart.  Into The Wild by Sean Penn is a masterpiece of a film. With the film’s aesthetically detailed camera work and cinematography, it has you hooked from the start. The film centres around a young man who gives up everything to hitch-hike to Alaska alone. The entire film consists of him helping himself and others to figure things out about life. High Flying Birds’ quality of yearning makes it custom-made for the film. You can imagine the song play as he sits and drives an immovable trailer. S J Denney does a beautiful job of neatly wrapping up a complex piece of art to be devoured by an audience, leaving you wanting more. You must follow him on his socials to see other such genius songwriting.

Jacket Weather by Camens is a refreshing new Indie-Rock single. It will have you running through the beach under the summer skies. The band seems to be on a roll, churning out one hit after another. Jacket Weather how ever seems to be gaining listener faster than the rest. Jacket Weather has a very 90’s alt rock vibe to it that has you hooked right from the start. The song springs to life with the kick drums and swoops you into it with its guitar riffs. The single banishes the winter blues and asks that you feel the summer warmth all the way down under your feet. The track encapsulates everything that is youth and demands, nay, implores that you experience it completely. Jacket Weather makes use of the drums, guitar and bass to the fullest extent and they do this with great production sense.  A series that perfectly encapsulates youth in all its awkwardness and idiosyncrasies is Derry Girls. It is set in an all girls convent school and the plot revolves around this group of friends. Each character in this series is written to perfection. Especially Sister Micheal, who delivers Ungodly lines with Grace and Swag. Jacket Weather would be an apt addition to the series especially because the first simple conflict addressed is the Jacket issue. The girls don't want to wear their school blazer because they want to express their individuality through their clothing. Needless to say, they wore their blazers by the end of it cause of their Mas. Everything about this song has you looking at the world with technicolored glasses. The vocals, the band, the production is mastered to perfection by the Camens. Jacket Weather is here to remind you to grab your lover’s hand and dance your heart out in the garden while soaking the first few rays of summer. The band and their singles are steadily gaining recognition that they so rightly deserves

The song starts off with a filtered guitar strum that quickly builds into a full-blown rock track as the rest of the band joins in. The sound is reminiscent of alternative acts like Alterbridge, with clear influences from more modern shoegaze acts like Queens of the Stone Age. The track explores themes of existentialism, with lyrics that delve into the struggles of self-identity and the search for meaning in life. The hard-hitting alt-rock number is an emotionally charged journey, with the band delivering a captivating performance that draws the listener in from the first note. The drums are subtle yet powerful, driving the song forward with precision and force. The bass tone is impeccable, providing a solid foundation for the rest of the music to build on. The guitars are distorted and cranky, bringing forth the enraged nature of the lyrical narrative. Cold Equations is evolving after their debut Ghost Town Cold Equations' history as a band is one of subversion and clandestine songwriting, with guitarist/vocalist Drew Kohl exploring darker themes in late-night writing sessions. The band's debut album, "Ghost Town," was recorded in Nashville with engineer/producer Brendan St. Gelais.
