Wattmore - Canadian whisky

It’s amazing what can be achieved when two people join forces. Wattmore is the same, and their latest release, Canadian Whisky, is just that. The duo takes the good old country form and adds a punk twist to it. The band members are modern-day storytellers with a sense of rhythm that's unmatched. Pair that with witty lyrics, and you have a masterpiece like Canadian Whisky. They are fearlessly arrogant and unfiltered, which makes for music that you cannot un-hear or ignore.  Anything with a banjo either sounds extremely serious or extremely uns-erious, and with Canadian whisky, they tread a fine balance. This number seems like a double-edged sword, and I am not talking about their edgy music and snappy lyrics. I say it's a double-edged sword; to be able to bring a serious yet un-serious touch to your music is hard, but the brothers seem to be good at mastering the art of dialogue within and outside the play. The track carries with it a comedian’s timing of building expectation and having a fantastic peak to end.  Clearly there is enough and more drama in the song that gives us so much to observe and absorb. The brother duo have great chemistry; they play with each other with immense grace and precision. The theatre of their music is vast yet precise. A film in which this song can be used is Peaky Blinders, particularly the season where Shelby starts a gin distillery.
