Camens- Jacket Weather
Jacket Weather by Camens is a refreshing new Indie-Rock single. It will have you running through the beach under the summer skies. The band seems to be on a roll, churning out one hit after another. Jacket Weather how ever seems to be gaining listener faster than the rest. Jacket Weather has a very 90’s alt rock vibe to it that has you hooked right from the start. The song springs to life with the kick drums and swoops you into it with its guitar riffs. The single banishes the winter blues and asks that you feel the summer warmth all the way down under your feet. The track encapsulates everything that is youth and demands, nay, implores that you experience it completely. Jacket Weather makes use of the drums, guitar and bass to the fullest extent and they do this with great production sense. A series that perfectly encapsulates youth in all its awkwardness and idiosyncrasies is Derry Girls. It is set in an all girls convent school and the plot revolves around this group of friends. Each character in this series is written to perfection. Especially Sister Micheal, who delivers Ungodly lines with Grace and Swag. Jacket Weather would be an apt addition to the series especially because the first simple conflict addressed is the Jacket issue. The girls don't want to wear their school blazer because they want to express their individuality through their clothing. Needless to say, they wore their blazers by the end of it cause of their Mas. Everything about this song has you looking at the world with technicolored glasses. The vocals, the band, the production is mastered to perfection by the Camens. Jacket Weather is here to remind you to grab your lover’s hand and dance your heart out in the garden while soaking the first few rays of summer. The band and their singles are steadily gaining recognition that they so rightly deserves

The refreshing track is a part of the band’s latest album No Sweets For E. The song has a quality that both, recalls of the disco era which is fresh and unlike any song out there in the current soundscape. Powers of The Monk - Firefly
Oh, When I tell you that I was not ready for what Powers of the Monk has in store, I mean it! They really took the world by surprise in this comeback single- Firefly. It is one of 4 of their songs. While they have experience, the band is fresh with youth but has the experience of a well-preserved wine. This particular Alt-blues number ignites a spark of intrigue within its listeners. They build anticipation with every strum of the guitar. As you hear David’s raspy vocals you are transported into a hazy bar where the only light is the spotlight on him. He glides in through your ear and before you know it, the anticipation is pumping and pulsing in your veins. The song is about a wanna-be terrorist who sees messages in the blinking lights of fireflies in the night. While the plot line is strange, the music is wildly gripping and catchy. It is impossible to resist and you let the music take over your senses. The music is designed that way as well, it’s incredibly immersive and interactive in its own way. A film that has a similar plotline as Firefly is Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. The only difference is that the series is based on reality and has taken a few creative liberties. So, keeping the theme in mind, Firefly would work wonderfully in the series. This intoxicating track by Powers of the Monk deserves to be heard across the world. It is unlike anything I’ve heard before yet strangely familiar with its old-timey jazz influence. You can only understand what I mean if you’ve hit the play button by now. So, have you?
Name Sayers - Lioness

The entire song is delivered in a whispered manner having you lean in to get a better grasp. Then, the beast of a track pounces on your senses, leaving you wanting more. The track has a bass that has you shook to your bone that compliments the vocals wonderfully. The contrast between the booming bass and the sultry vocals adds dimension to the track, creating a cinematic atmosphere. It gives us an air of suspense that has you on the edge of your seat. Between the haunting melody and the mesmerizing production work, the track would work wonderfully in Promising Young Woman, specifically the last section. You can hear the song play in the back as she walks from the car to the cabin, inches away from revenge. Name Sayers have a roaring masterpiece in their hands, a definite chart-topper. OpenTAB - WYA
OpenTAB packs an electrifying punch with WYA, their debut single on spotify. The youthful band mean business with the infectious energy they bring with their first-ever release. They gave us the best of both worlds with a soulful opening and an electrifying guitar section. The song opens melodically with a graceful guitar and humming, we then hear the raspy vocals that effortlessly catch your attention. They also give us a refreshed version of the 2000s punk rock woven in with the current Lofi energy in the music market. OpenTAB has an easy just go with it beat structure that takes you on a journey. Speaking of the early 2000s, this song would fit like Cinderella’s shoe in A Cinderella Story (2004). Specifically, after Austin finds out that Sam is the pen pal but refuses to do anything about it. The song would tug at your heart right in this scene. The song's ear-worm quality of the vocals paired with dynamic instrumentals leaves you wanting more. Early Edison - Temptation Number Ten
Early Edison takes the scenic route and sets the perfect background for the good old story of attraction in their latest single- Temptation Number Ten. The rollercoaster ride of a song is very reminiscent of the early 2000s- the era of the Boy Band. The youthful energy paired with the playfulness evokes memories of Plain White T’s, All-American Reject and even 5 Seconds of Summer. This is of course all these bands plus a tonne of finesse. They start off with that classic guitar intro that already has you painting a picture and grabs your attention. While the song is packed with complexities production-wise, it’s quite straightforward theme-wise and this is attraction. The song title to the cover art points toward it, but the quality of desire calls forth all the millennials. The complexities of desire are tucked in with every word and are tackled with raw and unapologetic honesty. I won't lie that I immediately thought of Stacey’s Mom, but obviously, where Stacey’s mom lacked in subtlety and poetry, Temptation Number Ten succeeds. Temptation Number Ten would blend in with every song in the playlist for Bad Teacher. The song would especially work because of the many layers of complexities in the love triangle in the film. That said, the track is utterly contagious and we couldn't stop it from hitting the charts even if we wanted to. Early Edison have already won hearts with their previous releases and Temptation Number Ten is no different. They will pull fresher ears and win new hearts. You can catch their tour announcements and further releases in the links attached below.

Wishpenny - Day After Dark
This Nashville group is all set your senses on fire unapologetically with Day After Dark and they do this in the most Wishpenny manner. They swagger in with their gravity-heavy folk-rock vibes that send chills down your spine. This album seems to be more magnetic than ever. It is peppered with all sorts of instrumental bits that need a stage of its own. What they have shown us is the power of collaboration . They have successfully found that sweet spot of balance, it particularly shines through in Closer. Day After Dark with Wishpenny The album is kick-started by Day after Dark, this seems to be the most talked about track and for good reason. It begins with this classic guitar section that is propelled with the drums and we hear Regina’s vocals enter the stage. The minute we hear the vocals we are left gasping and it only gets better with the Trumpet. Day After Dark feels like a party in your ears that makes your senses dance all together. Generally speaking, the production on this album is immaculate, there is an earthy texture that shines. Not About Love We get into the thick of Wishpenny’s experience with the Glide and Cover and Better Than We Found It. Both these tracks have excellent instrumentals that have their graph clear. We feel Not About Love crescendo in our bones. By the time we get to Not About Love, Wishpenny has successfully immersed us in their world. This track is a steady pace but we hear the folk roots clear as day, it sounds earthy. We can almost hear the texture and layout of the dry mountains in this track. Every aspect of the song is purposeful and shines through and yet they display a sense of spontaneity, that has us itching to get on our feet and groove. Step Into The Sun Generally, the pace of the songs is slow and upbeat-y but there is something special about Step Into The Sun. This one has a beat structure that doesn't surprise you like the rest and that is so comforting as we’ve experienced a rich soundscape until now. The vocals are soft and gentle and hold you throughout the journey to the sun. I truly believe this album is as earnest as the storytelling in Juno is. Juno has a special energy about it, especially because it handles a complicated topic such as teenage pregnancy and the consequences of it so tenderly. This is very similar to the style of writing Wishpenny offers us, complicated yet earnest and warm. The craft that the band displays is undeniably one of the best out there in the indie music world. You can hear this yourself, all you have to do is click on the links attached above and let Wishpenny take you on a joyride.
