Weak Daze-King of Cig Corner
Weak Daze are the hope, like that last flare on a survivor's boat that leads to rescue. Their music sounds like an era that inspired them, yet finds ways to be specially rooted to them. Each song gives a new, positive energy that totally rocks, yet finds meaning within said rock. This is their latest single, King of Cig Corner. It’s difficult to differentiate between their instrumentals and the early Pixies sometimes. It is a post-grunge energy they carry, but their lyrics remain contemporary. As the vocals whisk you away beyond the stratosphere, you feel like diving deeper into the tones they employ in their songs. Isolate the vocals alone, you hear a strain of Keane as well. The rhythm section keeps you ticking till the chorus, which is dynamite packed with confetti. Their hooks bring a real love for live instrument based music. There is an understanding between the bass and drums that seems like a relationship goal in some cases. Bridges choose unique vocal and sound parts, the whole arrangement being like a rock band that enjoys listening to it as much as they love playing. An underrated show I’d have loved to have heard this in would be A.P Bio. With the twists and turns and the series of catastrophes that follow, it is more than a fun time. The voluminous attacks are as melodic as are “rock aggressive”. You can check out their hit songs like Ricky Bobby and Get Up along with the rest of their amazing discography. You might think they are princes now, but Weak Daze were always Kings of Cig Corner.
