The Sea Within-Spaciousness
You might have head of The Sea Within, to resonate with the dynamic nature of the ocean. It is the creative outlet for the Swedish rock band, who are a project spread all across Southern Sweden. What they are able to link is the transparent reveries of human being, and where it all transpires from. Their unique thought process comes together in their latest single, Spaciousness. To exemplify volume, the band uses a percussive opening. It is able to set the rhythm on the song, on which instrumentals layer themselves. The drum groove is very interesting, adding more textures while having a core to it that is about the message itself. Vocals come in after the 40-second mark, complementing the spread out instrumental levels. In the mix, the vocals seem a bit too soft, perhaps in reflection of the lyrics that are being sung. In the lows, it might seem reminiscent that a pitch that is higher could have been used. Yet, the reverberation resonates well, almost adding that playful bounce to the vocals. The chorus is intense, pushing with great volume before receding in the natural way. The second time we reach the chorus, you’re engaging with a lot of power and a thematic rise that will ring throughout your body. The Sea Within takes some parts to pull back and make a powerful, grand reveal. Though vocals in the verse could have been a little more polished, the band has made a song that is emotional, vulnerable and a tonal masterpiece. This would be a great fit in I Used to Be Funny (2024). You can listen to the power packed number here with us, and follow The Sea Within for more!
