His music is whimsical and airy and yet has a sense of gravity to it. Mark allows himself to be inspired by multiple sources, but most of all, it’s Black American music that truly sets his imagination free. The artist is a multi-instrumentalist; his weapons of choice are guitar, piano, keyboard and harp. The track begins like a steady stream of water trickling through the woods. Every note shimmering and glistening under the sun. When the notes get sharper, Mark picks up the intensity a notch and slowly begins layering the instrumental piece. He plays with expectation and brings us back to lighter notes with the piano. Mark truly is a magician, as he keeps you on your toes, not knowing which direction he will go. The track has a unique rate of progression; there are moments where he pauses and shifts the mood entirely. Almost as if Chopin were a jazz artist. We can envision the song in a film like Persuasion; the chord progression completely suits the inner monologue of Anne Elliot. Mark J Soler is unlike any musician out there. He makes music pop out of the sheets and into your heart. His music can break down your walls, a unique tapestry of music that is earthy and yet is light and airy, having the freedom of the winds.
