The Sidleys - Blackout
The Sidleys create more than just music with their latest release, Blackout; they make art that inspires and begets more art. The band has a rich history and therefore purpose to create their work. It consists of a couple duo Annie and Steve Sidley and their three sons, Sean, Colin, and Ian. To be a fly on the wall and witness their creation process must be a feast to the senses. They have an unmatched sense of chemistry that amounts to a unique tapestry of work. Blackout is a part of Sugar Kingdom, their latest album. The fact that they have such wide sensibilities owed to their age range gives them an upper hand. They gave us an experimental concoction of experimental, classical, and classic rock. Their cover art is youthful, brimming with vibrancy that evokes images behind closed eyes. This song, I feel like, is the spirit of their album. It is peppered and seasoned with a personality that hits all the right notes in our sonic palette. The vocals themselves hold such great superiority as compared to anything out there currently. Adding to the crisp vocals is the flowy backing that makes this such a delight to the ears. The way this song would fit into Birdman's playlist is wild! The track is everything the film is; it’s edgy yet ticks off every box that indicates a perfect film. If you have not hit that play button yet, what are you doing?! The Sidleys is every bit youthful, as it is experienced and nuanced in terms of production and writing. You can click on the links attached above to see this and more for yourself.
