The Burton D'agostini Procedure - Before and After Three
If anyone has done a dissertation on slow rock, it is The Burton D'agostini Procedure and their latest release, Before and After Three, is a masterpiece. The duo met at Central Michigan University a long, long time ago. Little is known about the duo, but one thing is for certain: they have achieved the perfect balance when it comes to chemistry. They seem like a band that loves to play with expectations and juxtaposition. They are mixing and matching themes, lyrics, embellished and pace and end up giving us something we have never heard before. The track begins like a gothic circus show. It is as if they open the door into a travelling circus. We hear a rock orchestra-like sound along with bells; it sounds like doorbells or church bells, either way, giving us vivid imagery. While the band is raw and unfiltered, it is steady, and it allows for every beat and lyric to settle in between your cells. They built a gothic/haunted carnival, and they embellish the track with a ton of sonic details. The production on the track is polished to perfection with just the right amount of ruggedness. When you hear the song, you are immediately reminded of the imagery in American Horror Story Season 4. American Horror Story somehow always attracts the strays in terms of audience. It has consistently delivered in terms of story, gore, lyrics, embellishments, and complexity, much like the song. If you are ever in the mood for a dramatic rock ballad, then The Burton D'agostini Procedure are your people. They have engineered their own language of imagery that will not fail to haunt you in the best possible way.
