Michellar - Conquer All with Love
Michellar, the SF, California-based music prodigy, is back with her new single, ‘Conquer All with Love,' a song with avery familiar, palliative vibe to it. A melody one would hum when thinking of a place of refuge, perhaps home. Think of a problem introduced at the very beginning of an episode of a sitcom like The Modern Family. The characters go through all wavelengths of emotions. Finally, we reach the end, the denouement, a monologue by the episode's focus character, with a score that summarises the episode, playing in the back. That score is Michellar’s latest single, ‘Conquer All with Love.’ The guitar and percussion start offer a nostalgic 2000s feel, and then the vocals come in with a voice that immediately reminds one of The Psychedelic Furs. The tone built up has a raspy, rich, moody— a classic post-punk/new wave baritone feel. The lyrics of ‘Conquer All with Love’ “ … we shall overcome… we are here together…” assimilate the idea of comfort. Layered with the instrumental, the reinforcement comes forth strong with a build-up of a warm, bittersweet yet hopeful, and a little emotional mood. The lyrics are not too heavy, which is why the song seems like a fit for a sitcom, a resolution in particular, because the words have this feel: of wrapping things up with a light heart and a small lesson. Michellar has added a new feather to her hat with this single, on the basis that this song is very different from what we have been hearing from her, especially keeping her recent releases in mind. The promise that this song brings with its lude is that of excitement. Excitement for what Michellar has in store for the future, for her dives into new song structures, and much more.
