Kings County - The Dead of Night
Are you a fan of bands like Slayer, Pantera and Anthrax? Kings County's latest single "The Dead of Night" brings together gritty guitar riffs, heavy drums and bold vocals to create a sound that feels straight out of 80s. Based in Orlando, Florida, the five-piece band, featuring Rob Dexter, Steve Bell, Bill Kania, Joe Lopez and Robbie Dexter, draw from the golden era of 80s hard rock while adding a modern, polished punch to their sound. The track opens with textured percussion and distorted guitars before Rob Dexter's full-range, harsh vocals take charge. The chorus is addictive, with its hard-hitting hooks and an energy perfect for live setups. Beneath the heavy soundscape, ‘The Dead of Night’ explores the darker sides of human nature. The lyrics focus on the difference between who we pretend to be around others and who we become when we're alone. As vocalist Rob Dexter explains, the song deals with "the battles we fight in silence" and the demons that surface when everyone else is asleep. Also fun trivia, the band completely reworked the music during the writing process because the original arrangement wasn't doing justice to the lyrics. Recorded with producer Chuck Alkazian, the final version captures the intensity they were looking for. The accompanying video, filmed at an abandoned mill in Florida, adds to the track's dark vibes. With its industrial setting and indoor rain sequences, it looks like something straight out of "The Gorge."
