Inviolet Row-Alpha Male
Inviolet Row are a class act in independent music, and for good reason. This band is a collective of melody disruptors in the scene. Namely, Lee Scrivner on guitar and vocals, Kevin Brewer on guitar, Casey Johnson on bass and Abe Millet on drums for the first album. Since then, Ronnie Vannucci Jr. has sat in for the tracks. Their latest single is a sharp satire and marked wordplay in motion. This one is called Alpha Male. We must realise how unique Lee Scrivner’s vocals are. This is the kind of musician who has his signature register take over any song. It is an incredible vocal take, with the rich rhythm section humming in the background. The lyrics come to the foreground, of course, with their sly wordplay and melodies regarded. There is a disco percussion almost that treats us when we listen to the chorus. It is a unique song, in terms of composition and balance. Only a clever band like Inviolet Row can prepare something like this and make an impact of this scale. Eye Should Know comes to mind, using their wit and commentary in action, they make every song memorable. The band has come a long way since their 2002 album Consolation Prizes, and a lot has developed in their sound. I find this glowing element exciting, and very unpredictable. This song would be great in the movie Nowhere (1997). The melodies and clever lyrics are an imprint of what Inviolet Row means and perseveres to be.
