A'shon Galaxy - Save The Last Dance
A’shon Galaxy’s ‘Save The Last Dance’ is a modern R&B bop that makes you sway as much as it makes you kinda melancholic. But in a good way, if that makes sense. It's a ditty about love and taking risks. The song is built around smooth neo-soul and R&B textures, that takes time to unfurl. But it brings with it a swell of emotions that hit you right in the feels. It's relaxed, upbeat and wants you, the listener, to have a good time. A'shon Galaxy lets the groove settle in, creating the feeling of a nearly empty dancefloor where two people have stopped caring about everyone else in the room. The vocals are raw and passionate. It kind of re-creates the feeling of catching your breath when the one you love approaches you on the dancefloor. But you want to dance with them when everyone else has left. You want the limelight to fall on just both of you. Anyone who has ever fallen head over heels with someone and thought, "This is probably a bad idea, but we'll see where this goes," will relate to the lyrics quite a bit. They capture that awkward but exciting space between catching feelings and wondering if you are moving too fast. However, A'shon does not oversell the romance. The slow groove and understated delivery make the connection feel believable rather than staged for a cheesy rom-com montage. Speaking of which, ‘Save The Last Dance’ would slide comfortably into a movie like Rye Lane (2023), where chemistry and complicated feelings form the epitome.
