Anna Porto - Crown

There is an easiness to sorrow and disdain that Anna Porto has mastered in Crown, her latest release. The Melbourne-based singer-songwriter has a unique lens on life, which her art reflects as well. She is unafraid with her music; it is bold and moving. At only 21, she seems to be moving mountains and oceans with her music. Her music has mostly been categorised as pop and electronic so far. But with a vocal range like that, it's clear that it's only a matter of time before she branches out genre-wise.  Anna goes against the stereotypical ideas that surround the word 'crown' and gives us a heartfelt rendition of heartbreak. The track addresses someone who was clearly wronged in a relationship. She paints a vibrant picture of the spiral you endure as you conduct a postmortem of a relationship. A relationship you once experienced with joy. With intricate details, we see the ruins of the relationship she experienced. There is honesty and power in her vocal delivery that just makes the listeners believe that it is a personal performance just for us. The production quality of the song is crisp and neat.  While the song is a heartbreak number, there is power in the lyrics and the performance of it all, making it perfect for a series like Gossip Girl. Anna Porto chooses the pen and her voice as her most powerful weapons, and she wields the sword to conquer the music industry.
