Shawna Virago - Blood In Her Dreams

She fills her music with so much joy, personality, and dimension that you cannot help but love Shawna Virago and Blood in Her Dreams, her latest release. The album is nothing short of a riot; it has all the ingredients required to make for a chart-topper. The singer-songwriter is out to rumble a few dance floors with her earthy and lively music. Shawna is a revolutionary in the industry; she is one of the first openly transgender women to tour and perform across America. She will not fail to add a skip to your step as you listen to her music.  Shawna Virago accompanies us on the Climb To The Bottom The opening track is Climb To The Bottom. What sets her music apart is her amalgamation of folk and country sensibilities that mash into one, and we see this in each and every one of her songs. The opening number superbly sets the tone for the album. It is simple, neat, and crisp, enough to pique our senses. It's the second track that's a real kicker. She packs the perfect punch with Bright Green Ideas. The beats in this number are a real jig inducer. The track is cool, laid-back, and has a whole bunch of personality. Suzy Texas By the time you get through half of her album, you realise she adds so much character to each of her songs while also sticking to a signature style of music. She creates warm-toned, woody styles and aesthetics, in terms of sonic ambience, for us to associate her music with. We see this, especially in Blood In Her Dreams and Suzy Texas. Both tracks carry different energies while maintaining similar principles of song structuring at their core. Shawna brings exquisite craftsmanship to her art. The Barman’s Daughter We end on a high with this banger of a track, The Barman’s Daughter. There is something so beautiful and unique about rock and country coming together. Two extremes coming together give us a foxy set of tunes to vibe to. This last track is the perfect end to her album. She fills her music with so much drama and theatre that she has us on the edge of our seats with her sonic storytelling. Having us breathe with the ebb and flow of her music.  Her music feels light and airy. The track feels like a shot of espresso on a Sunday morning. You know, the kind that spreads joy as the smell wafts about the kitchen, waking you up one brain cell at a time. These tracks would work splendidly in Black Widow, one of the best female superhero films out there, both in terms of cinematography and script writing. You can travel the seven seas, and there would still be no artist that could hold a candle to Shawna Virago. Did I mention that there is some exquisite imagery in her music videos as well?!
