Kim Cameron - Ocean within me
Kim Cameron is one of the few artists who can cram the past, present, and future into one song, and Ocean Within Me is all-encompassing. An artist of her caliber is a rare find, especially since she isn't new to chart-topping on iTunes. Her music is raw, honest, and most importantly, it is boundaryless. We can largely categorize her music as pop, but it is so much more. She crosses boundaries of genres and expands her wingspan as a storyteller with each new release. This new release is a wind-down number if you want to sleep with our goal in mind in order to be fueled to achieve the goal of savoring life to its fullest. She is who every woman wants to be, as limitless and wild as the sea. “Deep as the ocean, wild as the sea, every wave is a choice rolling with the tide.” Kim clearly has a flair for liberty-laced lyrics. In a period in history that is hell-bent on caging everything possible from thoughts and actions to even wombs, Kim is here to set a bar for what the heart and imagination can conjure up. Kim has the power to transgress time and age, much like the many transgressions we see in Late Night (the movie by Mindy Kaling) and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Don’t we all love when women take the mic and are deeply honest, wild, and free? Kim Cameron can run to rule the world with the music she conjures up; she’s already got the listening base that is only growing to help her to rule it. She leaves us with the hope that soft and wild women have a place in this world, and her music seems to be helping make space for them!
