James Harriman-Between the Seasons

Poetry can be woven into music, just life in parts of life. Welcome James Harriman, someone who can fabricate the folk retro feel into the contemporary world we live in. From his instrumental moments to the verses he designs so well, there is a lot to absorb in his music. This is his latest single, Between The Seasons. Fables were my favourite pastime growing up. While others played amongst the greens, I read stories about nature. James Harriman brings such a story to life with his song. Not only is this woven so well with similes and deeper metaphors, he uses instrumental parts that completely magnetise you to the powerful elements of the song. The lyric “the solstice comes to take the dark, another year is done” resonates through the song. It brings gravity, thought and the momentous weight time has with nature. James uses his music to paint pictures, create memories and formulate ambiences you’ll always remember. Like Dylan’s music that only features guitars and the stories he can weave for us, James Harriman is an avatar who can create something out of nothing.  His songs like Half Past Two and What A Way To Spend A Sunday are amazing songs to experience to truly know of James’ writing and performance style. This honesty and clarity in constructing his music is what pushes him to become a unique spearhead in the style he loves so much. This would be a perfect single in the movie The Snow Walker (2003).
