Exzenya - The Fans Applauded
Exzenya’s “The Fans Applauded” speaks for itself in its soundscape. Exzenya's opening isn't confident but starts with a sense of unease, like the one you feel right when you are about to step onto the stage. Eventually, her voice unfurls and she belts out her powerful, jazzy voice. The rest of the song is very simple otherwise. Only the piano and Exzenya's voice dominate it. That is what is really striking about this song. That it doesn't need anything more to feel complete. Exzenya's vocals are themselves are so powerful that it is more than enough to carry the track. And the soft piano chords in the background only accentuate it. Her vocals are controlled, and focused. She knows where to go soft and where to unleash fury. Lyrically, the song talks about the subtle moment of nervousness or unease that people feel right before starting something. I think we all have felt like that at some point. And that's what makes this song so special, that it is so relatable. It's very personal. Especially artists of any discipline can relate to this feeling all too well. You could easily imagine this song fitting into a film like I, Tonya, especially in those tense, behind-the-scenes moments before a major performance.
