Cheyanne Summer - We've Got Time

Cheyanne Summer has taken the simple pleasures of life and put them in her album We’ve Got Time. Cheyanne considers 2022 as her breakout year, she hit over 100,000 plays that year, and it has only been uphill since then. In June 2022, NEXT Magazine listed Cheyanne as one of their top 40 essential artists to watch at NXNE (North by Northeast), where she played in Toronto’s Wheatsheaf Tavern, the oldest bar in the city. If The Powerpuff Girls were personified as an album, it would be We’ve Got Time. Cheyanne Summer as Prom Queen  This opening track on the album has a little salt, spice and everything nice. She plays with the idea of what the world expects her to be and the reality of who she is. Cheyanne uses pop and country in this album, but in this track, particularly, she plays with pop. The guitar is her choice of instrument to accompany her. The guitar has a particularly spicy twang to accompany her sass. Prom Queen is a fun track that draws from the doo-wop style of music. But she somehow makes it more orderly and surprising at the same time. Wrong Side of Twenties The Wrong Side of Twenties is a fun number that states the reality of the feelings one faces in their late twenties. The life that burdens you with the reality of expectations of late-stage capitalism. The track takes from the themes of 1970s music, soft disco music, and adds her own twist to the delivery of it all. What stands out in her music is her performance and delivery; there is a satirical bubblyness to her music that makes it come to life. Do You Love Me The last track is a song that keeps dancing on your feet. Do You Love Me is a funky rock n’ roll number. She paints a picture with not just her voice but with the way it is produced as well. She plays with the music that accompanies her voice so well it makes you understand her prowess as a performer. Do You Love Me is a number that will stay in your mind long after you hit the pause button. Cheyanne is a meticulous performer and producer; all her songs are crisp and neat as we travel across her world and music. An album that is filled with personality and life, such as this, belongs in a musical like Grease. If there is ever a reprise of the album and a version where all the characters are grown up, you can imagine Sandy or Betty Rizzo (because she says she was a prom queen nominee). Cheyanne Summer has managed to fill the track with so much sass and personality it becomes hard not to relate and enjoy her music to the fullest.
