Ava Valianti - Laugh Track

You know those imaginary conversations you have with a talk show host about your life? Ava Valianti perfectly captures that feeling of constantly being aware of how the world perceives you. The prettiest voice sings one of the most beautiful melodies in the Laugh Track. Ava's control over her vocals feels so deceptively easy. And it is so much more impressive to watch when she performs the song live. Her voice carries a unique, airy quality, and she delivered with an almost lazy manner. This creates a lilting quality that is mesmerising and engaging. The lyrics are definitely the best part of this song. It hit a bit too close to home. I realized that her fear and uneasiness were also my own. Fully leaning into the concept, the metaphors seem humorous on the surface but when you sit down and think about it, the impact is deep and overwhelming. When I really took in the lyric, "I’m without intermission/Am I worth the price of admission?" it left me reeling. It seems so simple but the depth of the metaphor is refreshing. The title is also a perfect representation of the disquiet that the whole song is addressing. The bridge where she sings, "We’re all laughing/Is it with me or at me?" clarifies how she sees her life, unable to recognize if she is a part of the laugh track or if she is actually the joke that they're laughing at. And when the bridge with the repeated lyric, "Such loud laughing," heightens the intensity, it seems like the perfect way to bring the song to its climax. Ava Valianti, at just 15 years old, showcases her incredible talent with both her songwriting and singing. Her creative direction is clear, and that makes her a promising artist to keep an eye out for. And that is exactly what I will be doing.
