Colourshop - Florence
3 h : 52 min

Alfredo, aka Colourshop, has given us the warmest song in Florence, and he seems to have bottled up a sunset in this number. The singer-songwriter has one of the most amusing travel/residence history. He is an Italian-born, South American-rooted storyteller based in London, singing to the world. Fun fact: the track was recorded in Barcelona. This universal singer has given us his latest release, Florence, and it has our hearts fluttering about like a stringless kite on a summer evening, sick in love.  The song has the sweetest waltz-esque cadence that already captures our attention. Alfredo mentions that his musical sensibilities are a mix of his mother's love for ’60s and 70s music and his father's love for sophisticated Italian music. Florence is exactly that. It is as though a moment in history has been frozen and has been poured into a song. You can feel the desire and love radiate from Alfredo’s vocals. The acoustic production of the song is immaculate. This, paired with Alfredo’s patient vocals, is what seals the deal for us listeners to hit the replay button.  Florence is an earnest rendition of yearning. It has the power to break down any wall around your heart with the most gentle instrumental backing. Hacksaw Ridge is a pretty intense film. But there is this moment of lightness and it's when Desmond falls in love with Dorothy. It is the most adorable and impulsive declaration of interest between love interests. Florence would work beautifully in this moment. If you haven’t caught Colourshop yet, what are you doing? Kevin Driscoll - The Maine Thing
3 h : 17 min

There is something to say about the whimsy Kevin Driscoll brings to the table, especially in The Maine Thing. The singer-songwriter is creating a genre of his own that somehow has the power to make you feel light while also carrying a sense of gravity. He opens a window and gives us a new perspective on the way songs are written and also taken in. His latest single also falls into this genre that lies somewhere between slam poetry and R&B.  The singer-songwriter peppers the song with poetry at every turn. This track begins with an easy-going guitar section that adds a sense of levity to the number. This steady strumming forms the perfect backing for Kevin, and when the chord progresses, we hear Kevin also add a little bit more complexity in tone, tune and lyrics. The track focuses on the resilience of human existence, and the largest thing we remember is to buckle up, hold on tight and not give up. The rawness of it reminds you of country and folk as well. The banjo-like sounding instrument truly adds wings beneath the song’s wings, giving it a little twang and edge.  This number has a character and personality of its own. This could perfectly fit into Jojo Rabbit; although the music tapestry in the film is different, it carries the spirit of it strongly. He sees a seed of dream and hope in every number he releases, and somehow, it magically has near-perfect production on it.
