Roman Angelos-Tropical Nites
36 h : 13 min

The rich imagery Roman Angelos gives you is unique in its charm. It is the obsession of multi-instrumentalist and producer Rich Bennett, who uses this as a carrier of passion. From film scores to noir pockets of tone, there is a lot to unpack in his music. The dramatic escapades are lined up for us this time, with an extensive collection. This is his latest album, Tropical Nites.  For the sake of this album, imagine the protagonist traversing a biosphere alone. From their experiences to the kind of emotions they are feeling, Roman Angelos goes into the ambience and metaphysical. His opening single called Motorbike Journey is something we obsessed over when it was released. It has the simplicity of the character traversing open land, in an almost psychedelic melody. The use of tones is incredible, a xylophone bounce adding to the mirth of the moment. The second single is Regretful Echoes, having a melancholic spine. The song studies a lot of layers together, composing a reverie unlike any other. His use of natural percussions adds a warm, human touch to the entire affair.  Bringing colour to scenes If you were to get into the mind of a spy, the tones and study change to this noir essence. From spy comedies to the 007 hits we know, the arrangement is a dead ringer to bring together such scenes. The mystery is alluded to with the melodies chosen, and the experience is contained with no words said. To revert to the ambience and aura around, the next single is the name of the album. It brings in similar tones, but the pace and rhythm changes the theme very well. Roman Angelos brings the theme in detail, with attention to specifics and soothing, memorable melodies.  Bella in Nighttown is the funky, groovy samba reverb you needed. The masterful use of hand percussion brings in the idea with great intent, and selective imagery. Only a skilled and virtuosic composer like Roman Angelos can make this happen with a minimal air of scenic understanding around. Breezeway is the soothing essence of a season, captured by tone. As we progress to Lady of Singapore, he brings a funky groove back. This is to show suave and style, as it is so mapped in our minds. Using the spine of tropes we might have witnessed in cinema and TV, Roman Angelos is the future of thematic music, tuned to the detail.  A soft drink session and stories to tell ends this beautiful album. Not only have you heard some of the deftest composition parts, but it comes from someone who can detail his sound well. You can check out his music on his Spotify and follow him for more exciting music. The album is embedded above for you to have some Tropical Nites!

Roman Angelos - Tropical Nites—Ursula 1000 Remix
5 h : 55 min

Roman Angelos adds personality to the ambience with his latest release, Tropical Nites—Ursula 1000 Remix. Roman is a Brooklyn-based producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist. This also happens to be his nom de plume; his real name happens to be Rich Bennett. He lays his music, real-life persona, stage persona, writing, and composing with intricate detail. The song is a remix of Tropical Intention by Ursula. There are many explorations that Roman has done in this number, and what a pleasant surprise it is! The track has us hitting the floor running with its brief percussion beats, and immediately we dive into Roman’s world. The track is brimming with personality; it ebbs and flows to create a forest of sounds that surrounds and engulfs you. Tropical sounds and salsa-sounding beats pepper the track. The track is consistently surprising; every sound is fresh to the ears. Leaving us on the edge of our seats, waiting for the next section to intrigue us. Mainly because he has an eye for drama and a sense of cinematic grandeur that is seen in this number! The track is like a time capsule that encapsulates the past, present, and future within it. This is simply because of the range of textures and sounds that are included in it. Some retro, disco, and EDM sounds in the songs would fit perfectly well in a European Gigolo. There aren’t many comedies coming out like the early 2000s—a truth that is both sad and good at the same time. Roman Angelos - Tropical Nites (Remixes and Lost Tracks)
24 h : 16 min

Brooklyn-based artist Roman Angelos is back at it again with a fresh release, Tropical Nites (Remixes and Lost Tracks). Roman Angelos is his stage name; he goes by Rich Bennett in real life. The Roman Angelos project is Bennett’s creative outlet for channelling his fascination with the lush sounds of classic film scores and the rich textures of 60s and 70s library music. Partnering with UK label Happy Robots, he’s since crafted unique, atmospheric records like Italian Soda and Music For Underwater Supermarkets. Tropical Nites offers a dreamy fusion of nostalgic vibes and his distinctive, retro-futuristic sound. Roman Angelos and Tropical Nites- Ursula Nites 1000 Remix The album opens with Tropical Nites- Ursula Nites 1000 Remix, a song that has been remixed several times by Roman. The track is a deep dive into the tropical forest that engulfs you in the sounds of the forest and propels you into a rhythmic world of blues. It might be blues, but the track has a playfulness to it thanks to the jazz and synth. It urges you to get on your feet and glide across the dance floor. The track is remixed by Ursula 1000, holding on to all the rawness that Roman provided and elevating it in collaboration. Motorbike Journey- Scott Solter Remix When you hear Motorbike Journey- Scott Solter Remix, it immediately has the twinkly-eyed wonder you have when you think of journey and explore. The track is a collaboration with Scott Solter. They play around with chiming sounds that open out into more breezy sounds of jazz owed to the sax. The track has these sounds that have your body relaxing. A stark contrast to the first song. Roman seems to have a knack at that—to create all kinds of music—a talent that is far rarer than we assume.  Unwritten Letters - Vocal Version We see Roman’s capacity to adapt and evolve even as we listen to Unwritten Letters. The track is a smooth and slow goodbye from Roman, as it is the last song on the album. It also happens to be the only one with vocals, already setting it apart. The track is a simple one, and yet it sticks to your memory. Mari Rosa’s voice is accompanied by just the vocals; she delivers a divine performance that is almost intimate in nature because of the lack of all that background noise. Each song frankly requires a movie of its own. But you can imagine a song like Motorbike Journey in Knight And Day. It’s the same; we don’t get to see films like that anymore. But we can hold onto music that evolves and glides much like the songs that Roman creates. Every song on this album is a cinematic masterpiece, creating worlds of its own, and yet Roman Angelos holds on to a style. It’s hard to put a finger on it as it morphs into so many forms.
