A/V CLvB-Cellar Door
A/V CLvB has the answer from an emo-rock perspective. Here comes a band that brings the charm and taste of 90s rock, with their own take on it. The band from Plymouth had a great debut with their single, Feels Like Yesterday, and they are expanding their tone and reach. This is their latest single, Cellar Door. Something that sounds like the new Blur is what A/V CLvB sounds like now. The dedication to the live instruments and unique rhythm transgressions hold your attention almost instantly. Their fuzzy guitars and offbeat vocal style belongs to a band like this. Making this kind of music seems like second nature to them. Flourishes in the chorus section and tailored drum parts make it a memorable melody. You hear dissonance in the instruments and vocals, just like Billy Corgan’s style on The Smashing Pumpkins. It is the kind of flavour that catches you off guard. A/V CLvB are on a roll, with their second single also having the kind of vibe that makes you go crazy. Cellar Door is another great start from a band that shows promise in this alternative soundscape. This track would be a great addition to the series, Paradise City. Having Andy Biersack from Black Veil Brides as one of the titular characters, this series has some great music to enjoy as well. Nadia Vaeh-Trauma Bond
Nadia Vaeh is approaching music from all directions, like a true artist. We have already heard many of her infectiously catchy singles. Some tell a story, some are emotions and some revolve around people. Her latest single offers to surprise us again, with a well told tale. This is her latest single, Trauma Bond. Her powerful voice is enough to get you tangled and in love. Commanding yet gentle around the edges, her tone is really inspiring. The simple strings complement her writing and performance. An echoing ambience surrounds this song, while taking the edges and moulding it into this brilliant origami art. As the first verse comes to a close, you hear textures change. Harmonics highlight this eventual rock direction taken. A dramatic revolution, a descriptive resolution is what drops with this song. Nadia Vaeh ensures her song carries a depth and despair of the moment-vocally and penning the lyrics as well. The chorus becomes a rocking flourish-developing into this emo gem moment by moment. Nadia shows us her love for this genre with plenty of melodic references to greats that have graced the stage. This is a gilded, solid attempt at spreading her wings, and she does it with class. You can listen to her other singles like Promise Not to Kill You and Friends U Couldn’t Keep as well. Each song shows a different, exciting version of her. This song would be great in Clockstoppers (2002), it really takes you back to the time. You can follow Nadia Vaeh on her Spotify and wait for more that is definitely to come!
Telling Secrets-Fall Behind
Telling Secrets bring it, when they bring it. Vik Kovacs proved to everybody with his compositional skills that he might be the best out there in the emo rock scene in indie. His well crafted compositions create quite the buzz, making for a thunderous entry with emotional debris in your heart. It is a phenomenon, how he creates brilliant music. This is his single, Fall Behind. Sonic ocean waves kick you in the chest the moment you press play. Telling Secrets go near metal with that opening, and you’re allowed to witness the chord progression in full. It results in some enchanting soundscapes, which lasts till the verse comes in. Combining trip-hop beats with emo lyrics, here begins a build which will presumably have a magnetic reach to the chorus. The sound is immersive, while exploring the melting facade between the genres. A pulsating echo accompanies the instrumental part for the chorus. Fall Behind is the culmination of Vik Kovacs really embellishing the power of this hard rock genre. The second visit to the verse is different, the beats being traded for the punching push of the live drums. Vik gives it his all, and Telling Secrets continue to flourish with this special sound. You can listen to singles like Bad Dreams and Lullaby among others. The vision is broad, so there is a possibility for the dimensions to keep changing. This would be a perfect fit in Transformers:Age of Extinction (2014). There is a lot more to look forward to as well, so follow the band and listen to the single above!
Tired of Fighting-Branches
Emo punk makes landfall with a band like Tired of Fighting. With intense instrumentation and lyrics that form human bonds, the band has brought some stellar music to us in a short period of time. Though Night Dwellers has become their biggest hit, our emotions take tributaries with their latest single, Branches. This genre is a cut the shit, straight to the point elemental force of nature. Tired of Fighting make their voice known and emotion heard with this single. The three-piece band from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne bring a new kind of drama fuelled with rage and frustration-the hallmark of what generations of people now feel. As the expression gushes out like a rewarding creek, it is evident how the band can create a song in studio that can reveal their energy live. The percussion is rich and dense, leaving no hollows and delivering it tight. Distortion is balanced in the guitars to ensure it doesn’t take away all the attention. You’re face to face with their vulnerability, reaching for something that might help you form a bond. That is what the band is capable of, breaking away the cynical shelled cocoon of our morbid realities. It makes every note hit the flesh with intent, creating a wound that is worth remembering as it made you feel. A gifted and power charged band with forged wings to fly. Tired of Failing and Chocolate are some other numbers which have become my favourites. I consider this to fit in Jennifer’s Body (2009), which is full of emo hits. You can check out Tired of Fighting here and follow them for more music like this. Follow them on their Spotify and make sure you subscribe to more from this band.
Austin Blyth-Vow of Silence
Austin Blyth is ready to deliver refreshing alt rock. His music has that caffeinated edge that has been dissolved away from popular acts. Something that keeps the music raw, yet with a finesse that is a cut above the rest. His single from January is also the closer to Clinging to Her Shadow, his newly released EP. Let’s get into Vow of Silence. Austin has a brilliant chorus section waiting for us. That doesn’t mean he leaves the verse section a paper trail. From the moment you press play, it is a balanced creative riot that creates some amazing balance between his aggressive voice and the distorted guitar wall. His range is amazing, showcasing how dynamics can alter within the same song to create so much drama. The play between synth elements creates a haunting spiral which deserves its own break. The highlight of course remains his voice, changing texture and mood depending on the lyrics and pace of the song. It is an incredible single, and a perfect closing number for his EP. Austin Blyth wants to give that razors edge back to rock, his own way. This would be a perfect song in the movie Nighcrawler (2014). Not only are the lyrics the perfect fit, but many sequences in the movie need this kind of pulse to proceed. Listen to Austin Blyth reclaim a missing part of rock with this single, and follow him for more. Check out the single above!
