This is his latest single, Follow Through. Being an avid fan, you could predict how Avresa’s tracks go. You’d be wrong. For this single, Avresa lets the guitar rest during the verse. The bass line follows his lines, his lyrics asking you to seize the moment to the best of your opportunity. The bleeding guitar in the background plays with the lyric-you see it recede and surface as the song paves the way. The chorus is an enjoyable rock swinger, the guitar flourishing its raw power while complementing Avresa’s voice. It is a flashback to the rock that he grew up with, along with his own style and approach, making it soundtrack worthy. A notable tone is the breakdown having the acoustic split, as the layers build to an immersive and energetic section that soothes with the salve of the guitar solo. Not only are all the genre parts blend together in cohesion-there is a way of thinking expressed that cannot be attributed to anyone else. The musician enjoys his stint as a magician here, and Avresa’s song is nothing short of a spell. The Swede also makes sure the production is tonally perfect, so you can absorb the breadth of the song as a whole. His album Perspective is a great slice into his thought and trials from the past to the present. One to challenge himself, it is impossible to hear an Avresa song without an immense zeal to take on life by the toes. This would be a great fit in the movie Motorcycle Diaries (2004).
