GAZ - More Than A Shooting Star

More Than A Shooting Star is a sound perfectly reminiscent of the rock ballads of the 1960s, beautifully revamped. GAZ has created a capsule in time, and to see it dated 2025 is almost jarring. The nostalgia this song invokes does not have an age restriction. Beginning with just the piano and the strings, then adding the electric guitar, immediately establishes a fond familiarity. The optimistic chords and uplifting strings parallel the singer's want to remember the beauty in what's lost. The guitar solo isn't there to show off but to fit into the song as it needs to, beautifully executed. I always love how creative people can get with adlibs and the guitar ad-libs is a wonderful addition to the soundscape. The chorus is easy (pun intended) to chant to as a crowd and adds to the rock and roll nostalgia of the 60s. I will definitely have it stuck in my head for days. Along with how it sounds, this track also hooks you with the story the moment the singing starts. "How can the gods commit such a crime?" laments the singer about the one that got away. We've all had someone that we had to let go of, bitter and upset at the powers that be. But this song chooses to remember the time with them fondly despite the fact that you had to part with them. Because even though we might be upset at the loss, there's still beauty in those memories. More Than A Shooting Star is a perfect song for all the Beatles and Rolling Stones fans to reminisce to. And GAZ succeeds in their aim to create music that lifts the spirit and entertains the crowds.
