Matt DeAngelis - Helpless to the Fire
- English (US)
There’s a specific kind of surrender one feels that comes from realizing that some forces in this world are inexplicably larger than you. When you first listen to Helpless to the Fire by Matt DeAngelis, the piece feels rooted deep in that recognition.
Chris Oledude – We Will Get Through This
- English (US)
We all have those picked out, specific songs that we know exist only to steady us. They feel like a hand on the shoulder during a difficult moment. They offer comfort without pretending to have all the answers. We Will Get Through This by Chris Oledude is just one of those songs: sincere, open-hearted, and built around reassurance.
Comett-The Dance
If an artist has the ability to take you by the hand to a moment, it would be Comett. The simple melodies crafted lovingly by this artist seem to be a tapestry of personal experiences, and global relativity. In other words, you feel like you’re experiencing a poem while listening to his songs. This is his latest song, The Dance. It is important to relate the song to the music video as well. Not only does it reflect the beautiful lyrics, but captures the essence of the moment. Imagine you holding the hand of your crush, and leading them to the middle of the dance floor. The surroundings seem to melt away, the moment will last forever. That is the experience the soft tempo and gentle string melodies bring. Comett pay special attention to the kind of tones he uses, almost mimicking the aspect of time slowing down. It is not just what you enjoy about the dance at the time, but who you are experiencing it with. Might be a reason why many people’s wedding songs are their prom dances. If you wondered why I only wrote about the experience of the song, go ahead and hear it-that’s all that seems to matter in the end. Also check out his 2023 album Video Club, which has a lot of cherishable music like this. This song would be great in the prom scene of The Perks of being a Wallflower (2012). Make sure you check out Comett and follow him for more ethereal songs like this!
Quarantine Beach-As If I Didn't Know
Quarantine Beach is the result of the eternally expanding music family. Named after a hidden city beach on the river Maas, the truly global outfit discovered each other through Rotterdam’s vibrant music scene. Making sweet music since 2020, the band has released several singles, and are evidently moving towards an EP or album. This one is called, As If I Didn't Know. No matter where you are in the world, the ephemeral string of music binds you strong. Though the band has individually been made of parts from all parts of Europe, they still have a cohesive oneness you can experience. This is from the moment they start composing rhythms. It is a gentle number that will remind you of U2, elements of classic rock all wrapped up in contemporary tones. Quarantine Beach are out to tell a story, and they do it extremely well through music. The band comes together in yet another enriching tale, after You Would Have Hated This Song. There is an internal conversation with the emotive and mental state they are able to put across so well. This soft rock diffusion is your perfect mood salve, in every way. Quarantine Beach prove themselves to be heralding an era of indie music that traverses boundaries, in more ways than one. Their attention to detail and making music that matters is incredible. This song would be a great addition in 500 Days in the Wild (2023). It is a journey that has layered experiences, and this band brings it all together.
