The Lowtones-Radio+Front Row Empty
3 h : 12 min

The Lowtones bring a grace to rock that was lacking. With phenomenal instrumentals and a will to intertwine their melody into everything, what they create is a universe in their pocket. They have an intense energy that is as vivid as the fervour their melodies have. This is their single Radio & EP Front Row Empty.  Their single came to be known as their breakout track. There are several, visible reasons why. It is an alt-rock resurgence that went missing for quite some time. With each chord being gripped on to, the soul is visible and someone you can meet. Oozing with personality, it feels like a live band should, with plenty of dynamic changes. It is by a long mile, very unique from the kind of sound they had a year ago. It is pulsating, vibrating with a new energy, and bodes for happy, symphonic beginnings.  As we move into their EP, Let Go has a texture that Joy Division or The Cure gave in their music. It is a redefinition of a part of history we should have never missed. Now it is our present.  With an incredible drum groove, Funeral is the second track. It is a perspective of death, the spirit and a tale that is as unique as it is entertaining. There is a vibrancy in this contesting contrast, giving a salute to the age of radio. Alone might be an illusory facade to disco, but read the book instead of the cover. It lives and breathes New Wave, creating a complex spiderweb of tones, in various depths and tones. There is a prophecy The Lowtones create a melodic miracle with Near Misses. It shows the dynamism of a band that can rock when it wants, be on a roll otherwise. There is a lovely kiss to the past with their music, something that you feel lacking in the textural depth of what is heard in the mainstream. This is one band I would love to see live, to feel alive.  Understanding The Lowtones isn’t that complex, however. They are just a band that traversed time and really loved what a generational sound felt and sounded like. Bringing their own edge to it, they now create little pockets of heaven to escape into, for a while. You can hear this kind of music in any mood, the waveforms just become a part of you. Their debut might be with the self-prophecy, Breaking Out, but they actually have now. Local legends in Norwich, UK for sure. I would have loved to hear this series of music being integrated in a show like Mr. Robot-where dystopian realities marry human complexities. You can hear their music and splendid energy with their single and EP. Don’t forget to follow them for more incredible music!

Radio Psychosis-Television
3 h : 32 min

Radio Psychosis bring back the intense joy of thinking while listening to music. This might be rare if you have taken to the mainstream Spotify playlists. However, drawing inspiration from the 80s post-punk scene might be a collider of many important intersections. Well, one of them was the Television. This is their debut, and it shows how a hit is made.  A simple harmony tends to stick to the back of your head like a jingle. The difference being, the former plated with some subversive, interesting lyrics can do a lot of change. Going away from the noise of punk was important in the post punk scene. You can hear The Cure influences on this particular single, where Radio Psychosis have the synths and live instruments coalesce to create something brilliant. Between verses, you’ll hear well curated pockets of harmonics, between guitars and synths. This was the hallmark of groups and bands that earned the tempo and feel of the song.  Another thing you’ll notice is the steady beat, almost electronic. However, between the chorus and verse parts-there are interesting fills to hold it together. When the guitar riff begins and the synth flows in, you feel euphoria.  The 2007 movie Control would be great with this song. Centred around that mass hysteria, Radio Psychosis has put their best foot forward with their debut. You can listen to the single and judge for yourself, and follow them for more singles definitely to come!

SIR-VERE-Lovescope
41 h : 38 min

Combining different spheres of art is nothing new for SIR-VERE. This is a tale of more than survival. It is persevering through forms of expression. Their latest album seems to sway through a cloud of genres, to create one that only they can be synonymous with. This latest album is called Lovescope. Now, this album has a multitude of colours in the palette. SIR-VERE is adding elements of 80s pop like Genesis to new-wave masters like Joy Division and rock of the alternative era as well. So you can expect a tidal wave of change to come with it, in every song. The opening number is called Angel of Death. It has a neo-reggae element to it, but retains its pop spine. You’ll still see elements of muted rock guitar and verses that edge near hip-hop.  If experimental means something, SIR-VERE is trying to understand the roots of the word itself. Peer Pressure brings a post-punk air to the song, the riff bludgeoning itself into the whole verse. It is a catchy number that you’ll be humming along to in no time. A regular artist would have retained that pace for a while, not SIR-VERE. The next song is an industrial rock number, walking the borders of what Nine Inch Nails made in the 90s. The bassline stands out for this particular song, Misophonia is a gem for sure.  There are many parties that have gone by, where your mates are looking at a good mix of genres. You know, more than the people pleasing element, you want good music to play. Play Lovescope and see how the heads turn. This is music from all edges of the spectrum. The pop groove of Bad Guy Kingdom is what sells this idea. You would think this follows the thumb rule of one genre, but there are quirky harmonic parts that make it so much more than that.  Bass lines are so catchy in this album, Jamiroquai would purchase them for top dime. It keeps the groove while the lyrics tell more than stories of love and loss. Here, they are reading into the zeitgeist and showing you something unique. Sign off, and you might never hear something so exciting again. Till their next release, that is.  It is not just music, but a commentary on how society is dispersing into the narrative. SIR-VERE might be giving you funky parts to break out your moves to, but what is the contrast? Incisive poetry that observes the tumultuous poisonous waters we swim through every day. All around us? Deep, dark ocean.  What is there to do but dance through it all? SIR-VERE understands the complex and delivers what society wants in the current scenario. Party through the illusion, till apocalypse comes. This album would be great in the 2002 movie, 24 Hour Party People. Genius, written all over the album. SIR-VERE-Legion
3 h : 40 min

SIR-VERE always puts their best foot forward. That perhaps explains why their music is so multidimensional. Ranging from post rock to new wave and industrial influences, there are a lot of things to unpack in this music. The best thing to do, is to sit back and let their imagination take over. God knows it is specific, unique and a key to a whole other portal. This is their latest, Legion.  Though it is a rock riff you might have heard the likes of before, SIR-VERE designs the theme well. It is the army that will take over, and doom never sounded so good. Though the essence of the track is minimal, the lyrics and theme provide the density you need. The quick tempo and assisted bass line gives you the mass of the electronic tsunami that is building in the back. Leave it to SIR-VERE to make elements that paint the whole picture, as is. Fabricating a whole other world like a science fiction writer, you delve into the render while bobbing your head. It shows you how well they understand what they are going to compose for the listeners. Powerful, enigmatic, yet teasing that fear you have for the robots that will take over.  Their latest album Lovescope definitely deserves a listen if you were grooving to this song. It is an exciting blend of genres they bring, acting like a bridge between the retro and contemporary. Thank god it is swinging, the adrenaline rushes. This song would be perfect in the 1997 movie, Spawn. This is the kind of music that keeps the movie building, and this band is perfect to create such soundscapes. Listen to the song above and follow them for more!
