Higgs Field-Us Forever
Higgs Field are an electric jolt every music lover needs sometimes. A live act with unreal energy, their music is a fusion of great rock acts, with a very original touch. As much as it makes you groove and move, you’ll want to create chaos as well. There is an aggressive blow that you’ll experience better live, but they do pack that power in their recordings. This is their latest single, Us Forever. This is not your ordinary romantic melody. Higgs Field have a sunlit surface as the opening, the rays glowing and showering you with warmth. It is almost acoustic, except for the crisp kicks of the bass and shots of the snare. You might assume by the bridge that you know the song pretty much. Wrong. The chorus is a dynamite stick disguised as a lollipop. Like Chevelle’s chorus parts, you hear the guitars as the wave of sound they are, tsunami-sized. The verse section withdraws, but has the electric guitar strains in stronger traces. I’m assuming that when this is playing live, the wave felt as the audience is going to be something else. The solo is splendid as well, metal as well as melodic in the kind of shredding experience you’d be entitled to. One would have assumed just as much, but I’d love to see this track flourish in a Bill and Ted’s movie. The perfect amalgam of rock and metal, Higgs Field would break the fourth wall with just sheer attack. Listen to their kick-ass 2021 album called Paracusia and follow them for more music like this!
Koburg-Beauty in the Fight
Koburg will save us from the ashes of the depraved. Her music is sensational, flowing-yet detailed and has a volume to it unlike any other. Being a musician and sporadic model, she has an opportunity to see the world through different perspectives. You better bet you see those in the way she composes her music. Her latest single is but an example of how far her sound has come. This one is called Beauty in the Fight. A soft opening makes way to a thunderous entrance. This is seen in a myriad collection of rock and metal songs, but you have to make it worth the while. Koburg ensures her composition almost serenades you to the scene of war. The production work is a highlight while we move in this maze, where her vocals are the highlight, almost like a monologue. As we approach the chorus, you can feel the leaves rustle and temperature change. It all unfolds in cinematic fashion. If you were standing at a distance, in a live concert as well, you’d feel the goosebumps. The rhythm section is to die for, with some insane drums preying on your attention. Koburg takes double duty with her vocals and tight, on-time instrumental parts, absolutely nailing the aura of this song. I’d have loved to have watch this song unfold in a series like Daredevil, with its rich imagery and powerful chorus part. Koburg broke the mould with Strike Back and her song Twisted Fairytale and she’s going to keep creating melodic mayhem for us. Make sure you follow her for more intense music like this!
Coma Beach - The Scapegoat's Agony
The debut album by German punk band Coma Beach, "The Scapegoat's Agony," is a haunting exploration of shock, chaos, pain, rage, and isolation. The band draws on influences from punk and alternative rock, including the Sex Pistols, Ramones, The Cure, and Guns N' Roses. Their lyrics, written in English, incorporate themes from various authors such as Samuel Beckett's existentialist worldview, Douglas Adams's satirical approach to human absurdity, William Shakespeare's tragic conflicts, and Arthur Schopenhauer's metaphysical pessimism. The album boasts raw energy. From manic vocals, fuzzy guitar riffs and off-the-charts pounding drumming, "The Scapegoat's Agony," by Coma Beach has everything that is required to make a solid punk record. It is not every day that you discover a band that is ready to revisit the roots of punk music. The German band does just that, and more! Tracks like 'Mind Descending' and 'Extreme Masochist' are articulate interpretations of the exceptional songwriting skills of Coma Beach. Furthermore, the band effortlessly blends punk rock with thrash metal influences, the result of which is a debut record that sets them apart from the rest of the pack. A refreshing take on new-wave punk music Punk music is arguably on the verge of extinction. While giants like Green Day are still putting out new music, the sound has become more influenced by modern times. The artistic vision of punk bands is constantly evolving to suit the needs of the fickle-minded global audience. Amidst all of this, it is refreshing to see a band staying true to its roots. With in-your-face lyrics and a no-holds-bar style of songwriting, Coma Beach is one of the finest acts to emerge from the German music scene. The band, still in its nascent stages have made a record that immaculately portrays the mindset and musical direction that punk has long lost in the waves of time. The music is aggressive, yet maintains the subtle tonal characteristics that remind us of Ramones and Sex Pistols. God might not have been able to save the queen, but Coma Beach is surely making a conscious effort to save the future of Punk music. The new LP is already on the right track to becoming a work of art that shall be remembered for years to come by Punk traditionalists. Coma Beach is the anti-thesis to post-structuralism "What is the meaning of life? What is the meaning of death?" Coma Beach screams. The energy of the record is infectious. With tracks like 'Bliss' provide a moment of respite for the listeners to truly appreciate the music. The production is top-notch with a sonic soundscape that encompasses the stereo field beautifully. In addition, each instrument shines while also staying true to the artistic vision of the record. With intense energy and themes of existentialism etched into its narrative, Coma Beach's debut LP is suitable to become a part of action movies like John Wick. It may also find a place in off-beat comedy-horror flicks such as Scream. Overall, Coma Beach offers a clear-eyed artistic vision that blends genres and influences to create a unique and thought-provoking musical experience. Released in 2021, "The Scapegoat's Agony," is an album that will find a place in every indie-punk playlist. At a little over 46 minutes, the album presents an apt representation of the band's varied influences. In conclusion, Coma Beach is indeed a band to watch out for in the underground punk and metal scene.
Inkakai-Drown
There is an approach to rock that Inkakai have that is rare. Usually, purists try to shun technology for a “pure” rock sound. This band is living, pulsating proof that music should be of its time. Soaring rock anthems that give goosebumps, texturally unique every time. This is their latest single, Drown. Just the opening blows back the layers by miles. They approach it like dynamite, waiting for the implosion to carry the sound. The aggressive distortion of the guitar is countered by inspirational lyrics, while the rock pinnacle is still the point of the journey. If the chorus vocals didn’t give you goosebumps, you need an emotional revival. From the scream to the evident kick delivered- Inkakai show that they are rock gods in their own right. They have melded rock, electronic and metal elements into a spectacular firecracker. Your head will turn back in awe when you see it burn. The second time around, reaching the verse is a whole new tale. Rhythms change, grooves are explored. If the new generation wants ever evolving content, Inkakai are the torch-bearers in the indie scene. They have one other single released, called The Smoke. Close to 428k streams, you might have realized by now why their music is instantly loved. Themes that people connect with, inspirational music woven in technical mastery. It is difficult and rare to find gems like this, so I urge you to save this in every playlist you have. This is one ocean you’ll definitely want to drown in. You saw it, I saw it-this would be perfect for a film like Mad Max: Fury Road. Follow them for more rocking tracks!
No Coffin-DCxPC Live Vol. 15 No Coffin Live at Lou's
No Coffin have never left a pocket of silence in their doom thrash. It is a genre that many don’t touch, for execution has to be near perfect. Maybe this is one band that was just fated and slated to blow minds. This is their live album, DCxPC Live Vol. 15 No Coffin Live at Lou's. Get ready for a neck wreck. No Coffin/God Killer opens the track, with a lot of feedback. From the crowd, and the guitars. As the drums thunder in, ominous vocals giving some of the best gutturals that can be heard, live. The evil riff is a Kerry King badge winner, with some blistering pace immediately hit. With the instruments, you can hear the excitement in the gig, with the ultra tight recording that has been done. Reverse Prayer follows, doubling down on the energy that was being dissipated. It has more of a doom tone, even getting in some Tony Iommi sludge tones and melodies. As you can hear it bounce off the walls, the niche explodes. With blast beats and a roaring bridge, you’re initiated into where the adults mosh. No Coffin are ridiculously tight for a live performance that demands so much energy. No Coffin-Metal you can't handle .45 continues the descend into doom. The riff is one of the best I’ve heard in thrash in a long time. If I was in that crowd, you could imagine losing a few teeth. It brings the best of old school thrash, Slayer, Candlemass and the likes. Bringing an energy that seems like an exploding lithium factory, it breaks down to something even more addictive. My neck could never survive this. Fire Is the Cleanser Into All Life Must End brings some more ravenous riff power. At this point, we’re operating on rage and suffering-the prime fuel for doom thrash. A 3-piece band is putting even the big league guys to shame. They are more organised and tight here than many seasoned bands on their records. Next comes a cover of Portishead’s Over. Performed with class and an ode to one of their favourites, it is an explosive performance with a raw, real energy that they tap into like animals. The catchy riff rings out in the back, the vocals in the spotlight for the energy harnessed for something like this. A well-rounded, soulful cover, from tones to the inspiration drawn. Money Brings Tragedy closes out a bombastic set with class and style. One of their best performances, and you never see the zeal dip down. The riff is menacing, drawing blood with the kind of groove they’ve chosen. I’d have loved to have seen these songs feature in a show like Cobra Kai, tipping their hats to metal and rock. A live album like this would be best for a biography movie of the same. No Coffin want to bring thrash back to the place of power it held. This album sure as hell made it till there.
Vermilion-Point of Return
Vermilion bring the essence of warriors with their music. What they represent are the formative, blooming wreckage that metalcore brought. From messages that inspire and push to elements of art that are technical masterpieces, this band bares it all in their music. This is their latest single, Point of Return. Look at it any which way you want, the future is looking bleak. The abundance of information doesn't seem to have percolated through anyone’s soul. Vermilion create a blistering track that admits this and questions the steps to take. Veil of Maya recently released their new album. I feel Vermilion have produced something on par if not better than those titans. Catchy elements that get etched in memory to extreme display of vocal prowess, this song creates the cocoon of crushing truth we need to be exposed to. The chorus is a hook you’ll remember long after the song is over. You’ll even hear August Burns Red influences in their riff writing, while keeping their signature balance between the metal and memorable softer parts. The part from 1:55 creates a tributary to a new kind of electronic fusion amalgam. It is an exciting and well composed gem, one of their best to date. Their 2019 album Vagabonds & Strangers took them to the pedestal of quality indie music that they represent. This would be a great addition to Linkin Park’s role in Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014). The message is apt, the music has more metal than the protagonists put together. Listen to their music on their Spotify and follow them for more headbanging, heavy music like this!

One film that comes to mind is "Whiplash," a gripping drama about a young drummer's pursuit of excellence. The song's dynamic structure and emotional climax would perfectly complement the film's intense and passionate atmosphere. Additionally, the song's message of freedom and rebirth would also resonate with the themes explored in "V for Vendetta," a dystopian thriller that emphasizes the power of individuality and resistance against oppressive regimes. Pressure-Demonic Oath
It’s time Pressure brings melodic metal to the masses again. After a short break, the heavy-hitters are back with another superb single. Challenging the norm, they have always tried to bend and fold around the weird purity metalheads are notorious for demanding. With changing times, they bring life to a style that is growing in popularity. This is their latest single, Demonic Oath. With an opening fit for Vikings, Pressure bring riff utilisation to the maximum. Their vocalist Olof Jönsson has peaked his performance in every song, whether it be a fast-paced kicker like this single or one of their slower breakdowns. When Olli Violet joined them, you saw this spiral upwards, a helix of metal and symphony that culminates in a fjord of dreams. The duality in the vocal approach brings the registers in a phase of unison, tying together what many bands lack. Though this is a studio recording, you know their effort and sound will be just as good live. The blistering double bass strafes us in parts, while the gunning riffage is what you’re hooked to. Simon “Siirpo” Forsell brings a memorable solo that serves as the break before the verse explodes into the closing. I’d like to hear this in the 1994 comic adapted film, The Crow. With some really cool action sequences and a soundtrack leaning towards metal, this song would ring well within the cogs of the movie. All The Things and their self-titled single Pressure are some of their best work. Be sure to listen to their album from earlier this year as well, called In A Dark Heart We Trust. So go ahead and surrender to the metal!
In Search Of-Alice and the Wonderland
In Search Of is a father-daughter duo that create the improbable. With a deep understanding of music, composition and a unique edge, they have risen quickly on Spotify charts. There is good reason you can get sucked into their cinematic realm, like I did. The album we listen to today is a movie in itself, so get ready to use your mind’s Apple Vision. This is Alice and the Wonderland. We know the movie, we know the fable. It is the mystery world visited by a girl, infatuated by how magical it is. It tears the fabric of reality, and like any fairytale-has been visited in many forms. Furthermore, it is an unending part of pop culture, and will always be. Just the intro is cinematic enough to the title sequence. You tear into the story immediately-the strings providing the drama. The drums making it a prog rock intro make it fascinating. Engagement Party is the second single, and it takes you to the round table. From the tight drums to Michelle Ray’s voice draw you into the story. Dynamism through the music There is even a pocket where they go all metal-double bass and the chugging the guitar. Ambush brings the rock flavour to a larger palette, still keeping the rock core. It has a metalcore kind of riff-something not many would expect. The dynamism and malleable nature of Michelle’s voice keeps you gripped to the lyrics. It is an approach- a very rock and metal approach, very few would even dare to take. We’re into character descriptions now. Spanish guitar takes you to a flavourful melodic pocket, for Alice. In Search Of brings elements of prog rock, metal and a bluesy take on singer-songwriter magic in their songs. The duo gels so well, they might as well be composing this with one mind. Tea Party shows an electronic side to their skills. The bassline is a funky groove, the keys give rhythm and the lyrics detail the scene. Depending on the scene put forth to this duo, they have managed to derive the style that could be the most probable to make music. The unhinged freedom of fables allows you to visit it in whatever way you’d please. In Search Of actually utilize this opportunity. Approach from all sides Jabberwocky is one of the most groovy tracks I might have heard in a while. It sounds like a Michael Jackson track-with the bassline and pumping drums. The vocals have incredible range, creating something to dwell within-the story coming alive. The Red Queen shifts genre once more-the foreboding warning becoming something of a Jethro Tull track. The riffs are really cool on this one, if you pay enough attention. We’re off to Viking land with Vorpal Sword. The digital realm is explored a little more, before the rock resurgence comes back with its glory. The epics of Revolt and fury of Embattled make for some great imagery, while the instrumental part is unlike any other artist I’ve heard in a long time. In Search Of have found a sound while exploring genres that many would never even attempt. Their core for perfectionism has given a gorgeous album with a lot of life, lessons and new perspectives. Make sure you listen to their album and follow them for more of their ambitious music!

She could only wish she pulled off metal like this. If you haven’t heard her singles like 4 Horsemen and Broken, you’re missing out. Her calibre raises by the songs she releases, and you might never hear raw power like this since Iggy. Treat yourself to this single, like Atomic Blonde (2017) would have for this particular single. Bad Ass Beauty is here to stay, and she’s bringing the heat every time.
LOVE GHOST Ft. Dan Garcia - Glock
The latest track by Love Ghost, "Glock," featuring Dan Garcia, is a relentless sonic assault that marries the intensity of industrial metal with the audacity of electronica. The song boldly strays into the territories of rap rock, crafting an exhilarating soundscape that's both unapologetic and invigorating. With lyrics like "A freak inside the cage," the artist's screeches exude raw emotion, perfectly complementing the aggressive musical backdrop. The song's mix is a masterclass in controlled chaos. The electronic beats drive the song's pulse, while the experimental songwriting veers off into unexpected directions, keeping listeners engaged from start to finish. Love Ghost effectively blends the grit of metal with the edginess of electronica, resulting in a fusion that is both ear-catching and genre-defying. With its unrelenting energy and explicit delivery, "Glock" by Love Ghost could easily be the soundtrack for high-octane action scenes. It would find its place amidst the explosive sequences of movies like "Mad Max: Fury Road" and "John Wick." The aptly titled track not only showcases Love Ghost's fearless approach to music but also cements their position as sonic trailblazers in the contemporary indie music scene.
