Fire in the Field-Snowblind Blues
Fire in the Field are creating a blend of bluesy rock with the rusty drop-kick of the garage era. Their songs are a testament to how raw and wild music can be, yet have so much care for detail and definition. Their album from 2021 called Resurrect is one of my favourites, and I’m ashamed I didn’t know before. This is their single Snowblind Blues from their latest album, Ash & Cinder. This is the opening song, so a lot of hopes rest on the needle drop. Earlier, you would brace yourself after a cassette went into the player for the rolling hum to start. They make that patience rewarding. Armed with some of the best guitar tones, there is a Page like feel to this song, especially from the Physical Graffiti years. The synth in the background is a great addition, and brings the class and pizazz to the song that the grimey blues was offsetting. In terms of melody placement, the song is tight, composed like an explosive Super Bowl half-time show and calls all the shots. Ash & Cinder has some of their most promising live work till now, and there is a good chance you’ll be addicted to it early on. Fire in the Field have superb singles with Death Don’t Have No Mercy and tributaries of rock like Save. Now, you’re going to feel the kick of raw power and polished finesse in their album and their single which you can check out above! This song would be awesome in Sons of Anarchy, especially season 2 opening sequence. Follow them for more rocking singles like this!
