Dax-The Devil's Calling
Nobody might drop bars like Dax in the indie game now. Constantly developing his game, he has changed his rhythm after turning over a new leaf. Poignant and raw, his tracks have all the punch and delivery hip-hop needs to thrive, and stay alive. His latest track is from his 2021 album, Pain Paints Paintings. This one is called The Devil’s Calling. He is shunning the debt like a messiah of change would. Not only does Dax have devastating bars, but he organizes them like a prose. His writing skill is being genuinely balanced by the incredible sound and production work-leading to a wholesome, well crafted album overall. This single is easily one of the highlights by writing. Bounced back, seen God, bowed down, got saved Not from the streets, I'm on the sidewalk advocatin' peace (peace) I want to see all my people win and set free (come on) I'm here to tell you that you better know that God sees This is a mark of a poet that wants positive change. There is a bleeding heart, and it bleeds into art. As the deft changes and words cleverly create niches of sound, the instrumental background comes to attention. It is with finesse, and reflecting the sound of what the words mean. Understanding Dax is as complex as it is easy, the words are there, and the picture is painted. My mind instantly went to Constantine and Max Payne when I heard this. The well written lyrics and bullet like bits have the desired effect. Whether it be Dear God, Dear Alcohol or JOKER, Dax explores a theme like none other. A juggernaut in the making, he is taking the world by storm. With God by his side, he will walk alone if required.
Dax-God's Eyes
Dax has forged a path to righteousness from a dark place. A talented hip-hop artist, he has now forayed into singing as well. His world-view has altered, and we as an audience have had a clear visual to it. With his approach in music, you can expect a shower of positivity and God’s grace. This is his latest single that questions evil and stands in solidarity with good. This one is called God’s Eyes. The focus goes to the incredible video Dax has made for this song. With a prologue moving to powerful verses, you feel like you’re a part of his journey. His flow is incredible, as he walks through a post-apocalyptic hellscape. From the tainted views that men have brought to the church to the constant sinning, he covers it all with bullet like precision, line after line. The powerful visuals from the church, with Dax rapping in a reddish purgatory, are amazing to gauge. He reviews them all, actions and reactions as acts-which he relinquishes for their forgery. The soul wants something simple, and the poison we feed each other will lead us to doom. Nothing is more verbose than Dax’s view of it, and he is accurate on every detail. This would be great in the movie Repentance (2013). With a stellar cast and story, there is a lot to learn within the song as well as script. Dax has shaken up the indie music world with his explosive change and vocabulary for this kind of specificity. Listen to the single above and make sure you follow him for more!
Dax - The Abyss
Dax dives into the depths of every emotion he can muster and pushes out his new and most precious baby- The Abyss, his latest single. With every word uttered, he takes us closer and closer to the eye of the hurricane that is his life. Dax emulates a sense of dignified confidence that only comes with experience. Not just professional experience, we’re talking about the ups and downs of life. He hits the floor running with this track, as he unfolds little by little in the first section of the track. And before you know it, he leaps with “I was Traumatized. What would you have said if you were looking into my mama’s eyes.”. This reminds me of every character from The Bear, they hustle and struggle to get and keep their restaurant running. You would be a fool to not recognize the warrior that Dax is in this song. He shows us all his scars and dares us to look in his eyes. You can check out just how brilliant this and every song by him is in the links attached above.
Dax-Life
Dax has lent his spectacular writing in understanding himself better. From completely turning over a new leaf to exploring new venues in music-this man seems to have done it all. His song that I’m reviewing is the final track from his EP, What is life? Let’s dive into the track Life. Finding a new angle in finding oneself is difficult. Music can be therapy for many, but especially for Dax-music takes on the role stronger. His previous singles and albums have also taken a dip into his personal demons, approaches and moments of vulnerability. Turning this into a thick paged journal, Dax bleeds about his approach and answer about life. It is detailed, while still keeping a broader view of things. The power of it is intense to listen to, while he still displays the incredible skill and talent required in placing words into a comprehensive understanding. The talent is one side of the coin. The other is definitely the honesty-him dissolving all bonds with the listeners. In a time and place where you can fabricate your truths, this man shows them as it is. For judgement, resolve and seeking another fortune. You can listen to more of this brilliant musician with his EP and other albums, as well as singles he has amassed. From being a YouTube sensation to a well respected rapper who can draw a crowd, you will not see him slow his pace. This would be a great track in a biography about the artist himself, specific with details and observations. Follow him for more and listen to his single above!
Dax - To Be A Man
The emergence of Dax as a rising artist finds a compelling manifestation in his latest collaboration with Darius Rucker, the soul-stirring "To Be a Man." Drawing from a blend of contemporary electronica and RnB influences, the track's meticulously crafted stereo field and flawless mix stand as a testament to the producer's impeccable attention to sonic detail. The minimalist percussive design, coupled with the lush VSTi pads that permeate the atmosphere, creates a captivating musical landscape that effortlessly envelops the listener. In "To Be a Man," Dax's lyrical flow exudes a poignant resonance, weaving a narrative that delves into the depths of overcoming life's hurdles and confronting the spectre of emotional trauma. Inspired by the likes of Tupac and Elvis, his verses carry an authentic and heartfelt weight, reflecting a profound introspection that resonates with audiences on a deeply personal level. This collaboration not only demonstrates Dax's prowess in the indie music scene but also highlights his ability to infuse profound storytelling into contemporary soundscapes. "To Be a Man" could seamlessly find its place in the late 2000s drama "The Pursuit of Happyness," exemplifying the resilience and determination echoed in the song's message, as well as in the biographical film "King Richard," mirroring the passion and drive encapsulated in the song's evocative lyrics. The musician's journey from penning poetry in Wichita, Kansas, to gracing the big stage stands as a testament to his unwavering commitment to transforming life's adversities into a musical masterpiece. Dax - Catch The Rain
The freshest of tracks- Catch The Rain by Dax encapsulates every aspect of working hard to either get what you want or just survive. It’s utterly fascinating how many themes and emotions rap as a genre can fit under it. What we have with us here is a melodic rap. And it hits home with every beat and every bar he spits. This is one such track that manages to give words to so many feelings and experiences we believe are unique only to us. But of course, misery loves company however it also breeds hope to know that someone else has similar feelings. Catch The Rain is a track that sets fire to the rain with its slow burn. There is a texture to the rhyme scheme that fools you into thinking that Dax is going easy. And up to a certain level it is true, but there is so much technique that is folded into every verse that makes this track as special as it is. Not every rap song needs to be groovy or angry. A track can be emotional, and melodic and still remain true to the form and expression. The track would be a wonderful one if it were added to the series Good Girls. When I tell you this series is dangerously funny and straight-faced, I mean it! The track would work beautifully is a well-crafted series such as this. Top-tier craft deserves top-tier crafts. It is wonderful to bear witness to the vulnerabilities of so many artists and we are thankful to Dax for allowing us into his mind maze that has his heart in the center. You can get lost in this melody maze by clicking on the links above.
Dax - A Real Man
The latest single by Dax, "A Real Man," is a standout track that seamlessly blends RnB influences with slow-drive indie hip-hop soundscapes. The song opens with poetic verses that spit the truth, encapsulating a raw and unfiltered portrayal of what it means to be a real man in today's world. Dax's lyrical prowess shines through as he navigates themes of vulnerability, strength, and authenticity, reminiscent of his poetic beginnings in Wichita, Kansas. The production of "A Real Man" showcases a vivid dynamic range, allowing the listener to experience the emotional highs and lows of the track. The carefully crafted stereo field envelops the audience, creating an immersive listening experience that feels both intimate and expansive. The subtle guitar work acts as an accent to the harmonic bed, providing a gentle yet impactful layer that enhances the overall texture of the song without overshadowing the poignant lyrics. This track by Dax would seamlessly fit into the soundtracks of romance movies such as "The Photograph." In this movie, the track's reflective tone would complement the film's exploration of love and legacy. Dax's ability to blend genres is a testament to his versatility and innovation within the indie music scene. His influences from iconic artists like Tupac and Elvis are evident in his storytelling and emotional delivery, yet he carves out a unique niche that is distinctly his own. Dax - i hate that i love you
i hate that i love you is a gritty number that is a heartbreak anthem that speaks about love that can no longer accommodate Dax. The poet is no stranger who is not afraid to put blood on paper when it comes to his emotions. He delivers a brutally honest narrative through sharp and unfiltered lyrics. His music has a wide range of sheer grit and rage that he has in his music, but this is different; it's a personal number that makes it hard to even bat an eye. The track speaks of an undying love that swings between regret and bitterness. Dax is not shy of the vivid images he creates with his lyrics, using his life as inspiration as he expresses the weight of his emotions. The hard-hitting emotional rap ballad has a soundscape that matches the obsessive bitterness of the emotions. The minimal bars in the backdrop do a fine job at allowing for his lyrics and vocals to shine. “They could cut off both my arms, and I’d still find a way to hug you” is just one example of the angry and surrendering nature that this song tries to encapsulate. The track leaves you with a whirlwind of emotions; there is no resolution that is offered. A film like 8 Mile is the only film that holds a song like this in its narrative! The track is testament to his ability to turn personal pain into powerful music. As we listen to a song with such raw and personal experiences, you have to make space to step back and appreciate it if you cannot relate. Dax - Man I Used to Be
Imagine this: You are sitting alone in your kitchen late at night. The only light you see is coming from the fridge you just opened. The room is quiet, too quiet. There’s an untouched cup of tea or leftover food on the counter. You take out your phone and press play. Cueing Man I Used to Be by Dax. The song sits at a power-packed intersection. This is where R&B meets soul and introspective hip-hop. The piece features country-tinged guitar elements that weave through its arrangement. Besides the vocals, the standout aspect of the song is the restrained, guitar-backed production. It adds emotional weight and firmness to the vocals. The piece has a very raw emotional honesty to it. Dax’s execution of this song gives the listeners a deeply personal feel. It builds up this narrative of opening up about sobriety, generational trauma, heartbreak, and spiritual renewal. The transparency with which it is executed is quite striking. If you look deep at lyrics like “Trials and tribulations… generational curses… addictions that clouded my eyes,” the imagery is very pungent and relatable. Moreover, it feels like a confession. Perhaps a healing statement. When it comes to the instrumentation, it is soft and intimate. It features delicate guitars, drums, and background vocals that add texture to the piece. This enforces a thoughtful vibe, a mellow listening experience that is then reinforced by the lyrics. This record is a perfect fit for Walk the Line (2005). The acoustic-country soul of Dax’s track blends seamlessly with the film’s Americana soundscape.
