Gavan Waldby - Distance
Gavan Waldby puts you in a state of zen with Distance, his latest track as the rock trance beats plays in the background. The music soundscape is unlike anything you’ve ever heard before. He's made a few interesting choices that push you down the slide of emotions. The track is a mix of traditional and alt-rock. While the choices his unusual, Gavan has made a few choices that allow the track to soar up above us. This paired with incredible lyrics by Gavan and his sister Cathy who was the co-writer on the track. She also contributed her voice to the recording. The track is kick-started by Gavan’s voice which does half the job of mesmerising you. It has a steady pace which might lead to a few epiphanies as you listen to it. The track is a theatre of its own, Gavan’s voice crawls into your brain like silkworms that give you a slow rock genius. There is also the concept of repetition that Gavan uses, it goes one of two ways for most people, one side people could say “The effect of repetition might be that the track becomes unimportant.” The track would work wonderfully in Waiting for Godot. That Becket it, making it a theatrical genius us. Distance by Gavan Waldy seamlessly blends different instruments. The repetitive nature of the track also helps us to understand the repetitive act of waiting in the play. Whether you are a fan of alternative rock or not this Distance by Gavan Waldby is most definitely a gripping listen.
Derek Lee Goodreid - Tattoos, Blues and Nothing Left To Lose
Get your hats ready to pack your bags and get in that car and blare Derek Lee Goodreid with his latest release- Tattoos, Blues and Nothing Left To Lose. The track has the perfect rhythm to amp up the nostalgia in the most fearless manner there is. Especially if you are at your wits end with a situation. Hit that play button as you dust off your hands and bid your goodbye to the situation. Derek has the perfect arrangement of instruments that act as strong pillars to this mansion of a song by him. I say this because the track begins with all these country string instruments that set up the perfect scene for Derek to come in and catapult the song to the stars. While the track is as brilliant as the sky, the theme seems to be grounding for this song. Derek brings in a humourful and delightful sense of grounding that leaves you wanting more. The track feels incredibly short because of how great it is, you don’t want it to end. The production on this track is smart as hell, they haven't over-complicated the process at all. It feels crisp and fresh. Tattoos, Blues and Nothing Left To Lose has a closing energy to it and therefore could be the perfect outro to a badass episode. I can only think of Desperate Housewives, a classic series that would make for this classic song. Jean-Philippe Ruelle - Impulsein
Jean-Philippe Ruelle in Impulsein is not just a song; it’s an eight-minute-long epic poem. The track feels like a cinematic masterpiece distilled into a single composition, with Ruelle’s signature blend of elegance and unpredictability taking centre stage. A collaboration with Micheline Van Hautem, Impulsein effortlessly marries Ruelle’s intricate composition style with Van Hautem’s emotive contributions, creating a piece that’s as expansive as it is intimate. Van Hautem’s presence adds an evocative layer to the piece, but make no mistake—this is Ruelle’s world, and we’re merely invited in. His ability to craft an atmosphere is unparalleled, weaving a tapestry of sound that feels simultaneously grounded and otherworldly. Whether it’s the haunting piano lines or the subtle orchestral touches, Impulsein is rich with detail that rewards close listening. It’s reflective, daring, and utterly captivating, demanding the listener’s full attention without ever overstaying its welcome. He is clearly not one to follow norms or conventions. Considering that the piano is his chosen weapon, it serves as the base and foundation of his storytelling. He has a unique form of storytelling as well; he shifts between moments of delicate introspection and powerful crescendos. Each note feels deliberate, as though it’s carrying the weight of untold stories. The track is eccentric and has immense character, much like the storytelling in The Tourist. The film is big enough to hold a song with the same kind of storytelling that surprises you! With Impulsein, Jean-Philippe Ruelle proves once again that no one is safe from his boundless creativity—and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
