TJ Doyle- Meant To Be Together
4 h : 51 min

Meant To Be Together by TJ Doyle is a beautifully crafted single that captures the essence of love. And I mean love of all kinds, platonic and Romantic. The song is a melting pot of vibes. It is a perfect blend of soothing melody, heartfelt lyrics and soulful vocals. They come together to create a powerful and emotional experience.  From the first note, the track draws you in with a laid-back guitar chord and a drum kick. The lyrics, which speak of love that is meant to be, are both poetic and relatable. Thus making the song feel like a personal message to the listeners. The song progresses into an instrumental that builds. Adding layers of depth and emotion to the already captivating melody. The chorus, with its infectious melody and catchy hook, is sure to get stuck in your head long after the song is over. Lullaby has a production quality that needs a special mention, with it clean mixing and mastering. This is also one of the reasons as to why you are guaranteed to hit the repeat button. A series that is as timeless as this song is Grey’s Anatomy. The scene after Mc Dreamy rejects Meredeth even after she bares her heart open, the first time? Yup, that was the song that I was reminded of when I heard Meant To Be Together  TJ Doyle has created a beautiful number that is sure to have the listeners inspired and hopeful. Doyle’s artistry shines through in every aspect of the song. Right from the writing to the productions to the vocals. Makes it clear that he is a talented artist with a bright future as he already has over 50,000 views over some of his few new releases.

DSP Band-The Funny Part
3 h : 50 min

The DSP Band is some of the most refreshing Americana and country music you’ll hear in an indie playlist. From experienced musicians, you should expect nothing less than magic. These guitar wielding word sorcerers show that and more with their songs. There is a good chance you would have heard one of their singles in a country playlist. This is their latest single, The Funny Part. With just their work with tone and approach, you can feel the virtuosic quality these gentlemen bring to music. It is exciting, joyful and how Americana is meant to be written. The DSP band make it seem like they’re playing live, the flourishes embossed on top of the perfect chord progression. The rhythm itself is something you’ll be familiar with, so you can tap your feet to the beat. As you hold your chilled beer and nod to the song, you’ll find yourself singing the vocals the second time around. They harmonize like they’re siblings. The band comes together for poetry, storytelling and songwriting. The one take, raw recording of songs shows an art long gone, only held by musicians who have an innate rhythm. It’s another hit by the DSP band, and you’re going to be looping this for your playlists. You might have heard them with their popular single, That’s How the Money Gets Around. This song would sound great in the 1998 movie, Hope Floats. They are always exploring new grooves and telling new stories with their music. Cassidy Dickens-Deep End
3 h : 15 min

Cassidy Dickens is an Americana girl, but in a new world. She brings her unique style to music through her lens-and the kind of melodies people are envious of. Her tone is as diverse and special as you would find in a musician-someone who can arrange music as well as they can execute it. The singer-songwriter from Nashville brings her soulful voice to her with her latest single, Deep End. Though the core is acoustic, Cassidy takes us on a textural journey. Her dynamic range and inflection in tone is like a storyteller, full of depth and creative flow. In a way, it’s a trust fall, a leap of faith that she elucidates. Her vocal charm is mesmerizing, it brings in what the emotive core might be like for the protagonist. The acoustic guitar and lead moments are more than just fillers, they express as much as the vocals do. Cassidy Dickens shows us what its like to study a moment, a feeling. The result is the manifestation of it all, told effectively through lucid imagery and definitive detail, which makes it seem even more real. This is a musician that writes and performs from the heart. The result will always leave you spellbound.  Moments of the movie 500 Days of Summer (2009) came to mind, hearing this. From Cassidy Dickens showcasing her writing to the brilliant use of instrumentals to aid the storyline, this song has it all. Clear Creek, All I’m Missing and Anxious Love are some of my favourites by Cassidy. Listen to her single and follow her for more!

The Vanities-Just Passing Thru
3 h : 58 min

The Vanities are touching on indie rock that can engage your frequency. As a band that is not afraid to tune into social issue and the so-called structures of society, they are back with a new single slated to release on 19th April 2024. This one features the brilliant sound of Bob Fitzgerald. It also shows the versatility of the band to make music in all vibrations of the spectrum. This one is called Just Passing Thru.  Moving tones will guide you into the meandering, travelling mindset of The Vanities. You might know this band from their songs like Private Army and 2001. In this one, the Americana sound rings through, while resonating with the powerful lyrics. The slide guitar is something that might get you emotional, along with the vocal choir. Simple chord progressions will show you the simplicity of the mind of a vagrant labelled vagabond. In this case, however, you’re put in a pocket of empathy. It helps in understanding the choices he makes and the battles he has to face every day. The harmonies all coalesce to make you feel that very point, written with some deep appreciation for what the protagonist's mental state might be like. Like a Beatles song, it stays in your mind for a long time, with choice words that make you think about the music. Something only a band like The Vanities can do.  You can check out their song on their Bandcamp, and follow them there for more music like this. You can also check their Spotify out, and keep a ear out for releases. The 2013 movie Tracks would be perfect for a song like this, the travel and the character matching the premise very well. Listen to the song here and follow the band for more like this!

Emily Barker - Fragile as Humans
36 h : 43 min

May we all wear our hearts boldly on our sleeves as Emily Barker does in Fragile as Humans, her latest album release. She brings in the wonder and mystery of the world through her country and folk intuitions. Not many artists possess the gift of casually mesmerizing their listeners with words that are casually thrown at us as if they weigh as light as a feather when in reality they carry the world’s light between them. And Emily gracefully does exactly that throughout this album. I can’t wait to unpack this beautiful gift she offers to the universe. Emily Barker and With Small We Start A fascinating quality that most folk artists possess is their ability to become one with nature. They tuck bits and pieces of it within their work. So much so that you are left wondering if they have also left pieces of them between nature as well. The album is peppered with light numbers such as this opener which sweetens the palette as we ready ourselves for a journey unlike anything out there. She plays with so many moods in this album, we go from tracks like With Small We Start to The Quiet Ways. It's as though she has the ability to gently sway with us in front of the refrigerator light. Wild To Be Sharing This Moment And then we have songs like Wild To Be Sharing This Moment. As if she traces the outline of the Alps with her words. This has to be one of my favorite songs in the album. Her pen must be laced with the essence of truth. ”How can we study the wounds of our history and still send our children to war.”. It is true that the pen is more mightier than the sword, for it has the power to shatter backbones and make them with its words.  Acisoma Barker is a wonderful singer, she is patient, word by word, note by note, she folds herself and neatly fills the gaps of the wounds that time has left us with. This track is the sweetest of them all and yet somehow painful. She rhymes and sings using this very rare species of dragonfly as her muse. She leaves us with curiosity and question in Acisoma. The only assurance music brings to the table is that it will leave you with a feeling. What feeling? Who knows! This thought-provoking album is one that pushes our understanding of nature and our role within it. She makes sure we remember that we are only a cog in the machine and not the entire machine itself. And yet somehow opens our eyes to how wonderfully delicate our strong hearts are. A film that has this much wonder and awe woven into the very fabric of its story is Alice In Wonderland. Fragile as Humans would be brilliant in this story. I could go on and on about how beautiful a performer Emily Barker is but you’d much rather see it for yourself. Buko Shane - Pandemic Blues
40 h : 37 min

Buko Shane rolls in like clouds bursting with bitter-sweet wisdom, waiting to enrich a field full of flowers with Pandemic Blues, his latest album. The album takes inspiration from a little thing over 4 years ago that affected every living soul in many ways. The band come at us with wave after wave of relatable emotions in each number. It is a time capsule and has managed to hold its listeners with care in every song. They have seamlessly and successfully weaved together a soft epic in sonic form.  Just Another Song by Buko Shane The soft guitar fills your senses like the first few rays of sunshine that trickle onto the kitchen floor on a Sunday Morning. The band makes an interesting choice of beginning with a much slower number. This is aptly captures the feelings the pandemic emulated from us all. A heavy and never-ending Sunday, But the band makes us appreciate, the slowness of the period. With everything having come to a standstill, we had nowhere else to be and nothing to do but notice the beauty around us. See That My Grave Is Kept Clean See That My Grave Is Kept Clean is a standout number; it is strikingly different compared to the other songs. It has a much more lush bed of instrumentals for the vocals to float over. There is also a heavy thumping drawl in the instrumentals, adding dimension to the number. The track is embellished with the accompaniment low synth hum. This heavy bass and baritone texture adds a sense of old wisdom to the track. It reminds us how much we ought to value and cherish every person in our lives. The next song, For Nick, stands in contrast to this number. It is much light and airy compared to the rest, and the Americana influences stand out here.  Son My Sun The last number is similar to the first number; a poetic full circle. This number, however, embodies the nature of a teary-eyed goodbye, a goodbye that is filled with longing. It is as though the band ends with this sense of a flag being hoisted up high. A flag of hope and relentless effort to explore, love, and live life to the fullest. With a strong wind instrumental that comes in layered with the atmospheric synth, Son My Sun leaves us with all sorts of feeling. This eerily painful yet joyful weight that the songs carry is similar to the energy in Dead Poets Society. Some of the tracks would be a wonderful addition to the film's playlist; they oddly carry the weight of similar themes. Buko Shane performs with the wisdom of the mountains etched between every note. The album is the embodiment of fluidity; every note is woven with care. As they have encased a moment in time that can only be described as jarring, they hold us listeners with care and gentleness throughout this journey. If you do not have the words to describe the period, allow Buko Shane to do it for you by following the links attached above.

Paul Cafcae - The Rider
2 h : 41 min

Paul Cafcae scratches an itch in your brain that you did not know needed itching in the first name in his latest single, The Rider. His music is a unique blend of old school along with a modern touch that gives his music an edge in the current market. Paul’s music has the power to really slow your senses down and send you off on a lazy river experience where you just allow his music to take over and float away. Paul really knows how to make an entrance; you can imagine his guitar striking a pose; it is a brief yet striking start. He has a cinematic sense of creation; every note and even pause has an impact on his listeners. Much like the song, the pacing of the song is on cruise mode; he takes his own sweet time, making sure he takes the scenic route. The track is a blend of folk and roadhouse, a unique cocktail of genres that certainly gives you a kick.  This Lofi country-come-Americana energy that the song has going is similar to Wine Country. This is a comedic film that deserves so much more love, especially for its sassy and well-written script that took you by surprise with some of the laughs. You can imagine Paul’s voice as the ladies get more drunk throughout the film, adding so much drama to the comedy. Make no mistake, there is no musician like Paul Cafcae out there, especially with his eye to create uniquely perfect songs. Allow his music to slow your senses and click the links attached above to really relax and leave the world behind.

La Need Machine - The Mountain
3 h : 29 min

La Need Machine opens up a time machine and gives us a raw and evocative rendition of the heart's desire in The Mountain. The band has a distinguished sense of creating, and their work constantly shines a light on their chemistry. Having tracks that range from folk to country, the band has its own brand of sounds. It draws you in as a listener. So, allow yourself to drift away into the caves of wander as they take us higher and higher up this mountain of a song.  The track has a perfect take-off section with the drums, and they waste no time. The gears are set into motion with the full-bodied instrumental that rushes in after the drums. It propels the listeners deeper into the realm of the song. While they do this with speed, it never takes you away from the soothing nature of the song. They also have this roadhouse blues texture owed to the echoing nature of the song. They are giving us the sense that resonates off of the walls of a mountain and reverberates deep within our chest, urging us to do better and to truly live with our loves.  A film that takes you on a genuine journey of change and understanding is The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. The film resonated with a whole generation of girls who were hungry for diverse stories. The song would work beautifully as we watch the girls walk off into the sunset. La Need Machine creates music using broad strokes of country and folk that is mixed and mastered to perfection. Ellery Twining - DUSTY SPRINGFIELD’S RECORD COLLECTION
3 h : 7 min

Ellery Twining dials up the drama with his latest release, DUSTY SPRINGFIELD’S RECORD COLLECTION, his latest collection. The singer-songwriter is a rogue genius when it comes to his music. He refuses to play by the rules, and he has become a master of making his own. When you hear his wide variety of music, you walk away with a sense of grandeur that probes so many thoughts and feelings.  There is something so powerful about words uttered to a rhythm, not sung or yelled but rather performed to the fullest. Rather than showcase the depth of his music within the confines of mainstream music, he goes down the storytelling path. With which he brings out the cinematic elements in his music. In this number, and the music video adds to the drama as well, he makes interesting storytelling choices. The video is shot in vintage frames and costumes that truly envelop our senses, drawing us deeper and deeper into the world he creates with his music. While he talks about a record collection in a store, he brings to the forefront many questions about art.  The elegant style of performance art kind of music is really prominent and similar to the storytelling aspects of The City of Lost Children. The film is an old cult classic that has you hooked with his visuals. Ellery Twining will have you amazed with the way his art will have a hold on your senses. Swamp Music Players - Warriors
3 h : 42 min

This is you in your main character era. A song you would play after leaving home, leaving behind a heavy past. Now is where it starts anew, and you know the road will take you somewhere. Warriors by Swamp Music Players is precisely what you would play on your way.  The song has a cinematic court that it doesn’t cross. It falls within cosmic-americana, alt-country, and rock genres, and somewhere you hear blues tones. The song is what can be deemed a classic in the future. It has a definite style, structure, and conjuring storytelling grounded in older musical traditions. This is all backed with allusions to aliens and government conspiracies.  The standout points from the song are the storytelling and the atmosphere it creates. The lyrics build up a vivid narrative: an isolated fighter driving down a desolate highway, “running on empty,” putting on war paint again as he becomes “the last warrior” in a one-horse town. The imagery of UFOs, desert highways, and existential struggle adds a layer of cosmic mystery to the grit of Americana. This creates an immersive cinematic narrative. When it comes to the production, the song blends blues-rock textures with cosmic Americana and alt-country sensibilities. This makes the track sit in a unique sonic niche and adds a fresh cinematic quality to the otherwise nostalgic song.  The song is a good fit for a movie like No Country for Old Men (2007). It can be used as a backtrack during a tense desert highway scene or the character’s lonely nighttime drive.

Ezra Vancil - Island
5 h

Float away to Ezra Vancil's captivating new single, 'Island' The Texan country/Americana artist is back with a warm, enveloping love ballad, performed in duet with his wife, Cozi Vancil. "island is a track that eases you into a sublime, relaxed state of being with Ezra's gentle, nostalgic vocals, stirring pop harmonies and deep emotional quotient For a moment, close your eyes and picture yourself on a quiet, deserted beach at sundown, standing at the shore as the soft crashing waves caress your feet in the soft, yielding sand. That's how 'Island' opens, in sublime fashion. We're serenaded by the sounds of crashing waves, a shimmering guitar chord sturm and evocative hummed harmonies from Ezra & Cozi. Its one of the most stirring openings we've heard in a while. Leading into the opening verse, Ezra sings oh so softly and tenderly, reminiscing “When I make it back to the island, I hope I’m young enough for the fun, race you to the beach in the morning, chase you back to the bed when the moon is rising…” The effect is captivating and mesmerizing instantly. You lean closer in to really immerse into the emotionality and warmth that he expresss throguh his poetic prose. Ezra shares, “Island was written a few years after my wife and I got back together. We’d gone through a divorce, a lot of hard years, and this song came from the peace that followed. It’s a song about time moving on, even when life finally feels right. We took a little trip to the beach with our daughter after a string of shows. We didn’t have much, but we splurged on a night at a hotel by the ocean. It was one of those perfect memories – sand, laughter, sunlight – and I think I wrote the song trying to hold on to that. It’s the calm after the storm. 'Island' effotlessly conveys that tropical feel with Ezra's subtle Spanish rolled into his gentle vocals, flowing upon a smooth, steady rhythm. The guitar sections are particupalry compelling, adding great soul and personality to this laid-back, carefree opus. We particularly enjoyed how he seamlessly switches vocal effects to a megaphone style, giving a fluid street performance feel. This is a track that feels complete and grounded all throughout its 5-minute runtime, speaking volumes of Ezra's sublime songwriting abilities. You could easily imagine this as the soundtrack to Leonardo DiCaprio's cult film 'Island' particularly the scenes where he's just arrived at the Island and discovers a venerable paradise-like living situation. easily 5-minute, Ezra Vancil is rapidly becoming one of our favorite Americana artists. He's got this beautiful ability to bare it all, musically, emotionally, and spiritually, in each of his releases, in surprising, wholesome ways that keep us coming back for more.
