Kurst is an orator with a backbeat. As a hip-hop artist, he is taking it back to the roots, talking about the world as he sees it. There is a unique touch in the way he writes, uses the beats and tunes that project and precede his point. Hip-hop will never be the same in the indie world, and that’s because he has levelled it up. This is his latest single, Noise.
Noise has a trap flow, because the words make up for the show. Using a relatively simple background, he is like the narrator of a story. Diving into the depths of what you see and hear, in terms of information, he has something to say. Minus the beat mentally, and you’ll hear flow unlike any other. This master rapper and musician is creating a dialogue through his art, as all art should. His words are reminders of artists like Black Star, A Tribe Called Quest among others. His approach is unique and sharp, and this isn’t for social media filler content. This might be the realest thing you hear this week, or maybe even the month. The chorus rings out, stays with you because of the gravity it has.
You might have heard of him in indie hip-hop playlists with The Oracle, Slasher and Knick Knack, among others. I would have loved to have heard this in the 2017 movie called The Post, about the journalist extraordinaries. Kurst will continue to shake the foundation of hip-hop to make more of an impact. Follow him to pay your due to the rhyme king!
