Laughing, Talking, Loving is a pillow of a song to lay on as we seek the comfort and desire that I Panic or otherwise known as Marcel has given us. The track feels like a diary entry that is only for the owner of the diary to know. We are transported back into the disco-funk-soul era of the 1970’s. This is the very reason as to why it is so hard to categorize Marcel. His tracks in general are so versatile.
The track is a hue of feelings. We know that there is an immense amount of craft that is present in the song, simply by the mixture of both pop and theatre in the beginning. We hear the piano chime in as the wind herself moves the keys. And then the main attraction sweeps in gently to steal our sleep. The track literally embodies the title- the desire to talk, laugh and love. But this is also laced with a layer of pain and yearning because it isn’t present currently. Making this song a very relatable one to a lot of people at this time of year.
I truly believe that the era where they mixed rock and theatre was some of the best years in musical theatre. And because of this very reason Laughing, Talking, Loving would work beautifully in Rent when Roger and Mimi break up. I Panic is going to be ever relative because of his quality of work and because of his diverse genre range. So, you should really give the star of the Indie Music scene a follow huh?
