Blindness & Light have always approached music with a cinematic flair. This makes it easier for us at Indiemusicflix to review their music, there is beautiful imagery entangles in the music already. With the kind of singles and albums we have heard, they are always stretching the tapestry of what is and can be possible through music. This is the closing track from their 2023 album Blindness & Light. This one is First Light of Day.Â
If you are observing the movement of day within nature, it is dawn to dawn. When dusk falls and it all recedes, there is a pause. This band puts a recorder near the developnents of the morning. With the ambience suggesting the first break of dawn, the chords and progression suggest it too. The melting, phasing synth in the background has a multi-layered approach. Similar to the layers of sunlight, the sky and clouds-there are vivid textures to be heard. As dramatic as it is, it is beautiful to witness in itself, to make the most of what a melody could write in an observation. When the acoustic guitar and lyrics come in, you’re in that wrapped vision of nature, amidst the glory of it all. The way it all comes together is natural and gorgeous.
Not only is their album something to witness and hear, but they have other singles that are actively imaginative. Mid90s (2018) would be a great movie to hear this song in. Apart from the theme and sound, there is a lot more in terms of layers in the sequences. Follow Blindness & Light and listen to their incredible music on their Spotify!
