Hikaru Hidaka is the first of his kind music maker, Another Sad Night, Under Moonlight is unlike any track out there. While his style is unique and a style that can be described as a saturated-experimental dreams-cape. He is clearly out in the world, making a category of music of his own and Another Sad Night, Under Moonlight only solidifies his genre. He has clearly created a world of his own underneath the shimmering moonlight. Hikaru brings so much to the table as an artist
The song begins like a spring that catches the early rays of sunlight, a soft trickle. Hikaru is known for making bold choices in his musical elements and why would this be any different? He brings in smokey vocals for this track and uses it like spray paint on a canvas. The vocals add an eerie and exciting touch to the song. Also can we please pause and talk about how good he is at playing with melodic textures? He juxtaposes the trickling-synth instrumentals against the smokey vocals, evoking indescribable feelings within us listeners. He uses euphoric sounds to evoke melancholy within us. Clearly, he is an interactive musician.
Greta Gerwig the Great has several achievements down her belt but a rare gem that few know about is Mistress America. Hikaru’s track would work so well for Greta’s character or it would also work in Scary Movie, in Scary Movie 3 specifically. The nuanced comedy that it would add to the film is truly brilliant.
