Ethan Senger is as comfortable on a guitar as an E string. Picking up the instrument at an early age allowed him to express his experiences through the many melodies it can produce. Fusing elements of genres he loves, he made wholesome music that first him, and many others like him can enjoy. Songwriting is his second nature now. This is evident in his latest single, Standing Still.Â
A song like this is warm appeal. In a time when progress is all that is measured, especially in relatonships-maybe we can observe more if we’re just stationary. Nothing wrong with it, but you’re folded within society’s frowns. Ethan Senger makes it just something natural, with a melody that is as inspiring to listen to as the feat itself. His voice-the whole thing with the instrument might remind you of a young Mayer or Stapleton. You’re knee-deep in his feelings-the context and simple piano leads that highlight and accent his chord progression. A progression used very often, the chorus changes into something unexpected while having this seemingly vanilla wafer for a base. That is what experience with an instrument, something that is an extension of the self can do.
There’s a reason his 2020 EP titled Ethan Senger is full of such experiences. As a musician, he found a home in this incredible melodies strung together. The movie Serendipity (2001) would be a great movie for this song and vice versa. Ethan’s brilliant songwriting with the romantic theme takes form in the strongest way.
