Early Edison takes the scenic route and sets the perfect background for the good old story of attraction in their latest single- Temptation Number Ten. The rollercoaster ride of a song is very reminiscent of the early 2000s- the era of the Boy Band. The youthful energy paired with the playfulness evokes memories of Plain White T’s, All-American Reject and even 5 Seconds of Summer. This is of course all these bands plus a tonne of finesse.
They start off with that classic guitar intro that already has you painting a picture and grabs your attention. While the song is packed with complexities production-wise, it’s quite straightforward theme-wise and this is attraction. The song title to the cover art points toward it, but the quality of desire calls forth all the millennials. The complexities of desire are tucked in with every word and are tackled with raw and unapologetic honesty. I won’t lie that I immediately thought of Stacey’s Mom, but obviously, where Stacey’s mom lacked in subtlety and poetry, Temptation Number Ten succeeds.
Temptation Number Ten would blend in with every song in the playlist for Bad Teacher. The song would especially work because of the many layers of complexities in the love triangle in the film. That said, the track is utterly contagious and we couldn’t stop it from hitting the charts even if we wanted to. Early Edison have already won hearts with their previous releases and Temptation Number Ten is no different. They will pull fresher ears and win new hearts.
