Second Death is a forest of sounds where the lush groves of sounds pull you deeper and deeper alongside Anne Bennett. The track is a slow and sultry number that has us falling into the depths of Alice in Wonderland. You feel the slow drawn-out walk toward a cinematic climax in this song. It’s clear that Anne has a touch for drama, the song’s imagery is proof of that.Â
Anne has us hooked with every beat right from the beginning. Slowly but surely, we hear the drums beats announce Anne’s entrance. With the slow deliberated drums, we hear Anne make her entrance. She has composed this song to perfection, she takes her time with her vocals. Jon Winterstein has done a phenomenal job at the instrumentals and marrying the vocals with the background music. We hear every layer and detail but not enough to take away from the masterpiece that is Second Death.Â
I cannot emphasise how much I need an edit of this song in Kill Bill: Volume 1 right now. It speaks to the versatility of the track if it can be imagined in both Kill Bill and Alice In Wonderland. Need I say more to spike your interest? If you haven’t hit the play button yet, go on… We can wait. If you have, click on the links attached above because Anne Bennett is here to stay. She made sure her presence was noted in the Indie music scene. I can’t wait to see what she creates next.
