YME
Ymkje de Bijl, professionally known as YME, is an emerging independent artist from The Netherlands. Her journey into the music world is deeply personal and inspired by her family legacy, being the daughter of Esther de Bijl, known as E-Starr, the celebrated vocalist of the '80s hit group Ottawan. YME embarked on her musical career in 2021 after joining The MediaClub in Arnhem, bringing a fresh and authentic voice to the industry. Diagnosed with autism at a young age, YME uses her music to express personal experiences of overcoming challenges, including dealing with bullying. All her lyrics are self-written and produced in collaboration with Marco Roosink, offering audiences a powerful narrative of resilience and strength. Her recent releases continue to address these impactful themes, drawing listeners into her world. With a unique blend of influences from her musical heritage, including connections to iconic acts like Daft Punk through familial ties, YME's sound defies conventions and champions individuality. Her empowering message to fans is clear: "Be brave and don't let your disorder hold you down." As YME continues to evolve, her dedication and authenticity promise to make a lasting impact in the music scene.
