Yana

They say you don’t have to be born Irish to be Irish. This is certainly true for Yana. The Czech Republic native has found her spiritual home in Ireland and as she and many of her peers often say, she’s got an Irish heart. After releasing three singles from the debut album, all to great support from the radio and press alike, Yana is about to share the last taste of her forthcoming album, a poignant track called “The Traveller”. About the new single she says “I have a deep connection to this song. Wrote the lyrics in 2018 at Folk holidays festival in Czech Republic, just as Interference returned to play there and also tour the country after 11 long years. The song is strongly connected to the late Fergus O’Farrell, a dear friend and hero, who continues to inspire everyone who knew and loved him. It tries to express a feeling of gratitude of having such an inspirational person in my life” For Yana, this song completes the circle because she’s joined by Maurice Culligan of Interference who plays the piano and sings the lead vocal. “I have looked up to Interference and Fergus O’Farrell and his songwriting from the moment I discovered it. Ferg remains the greatest inspiration. So to be joined by Maurice on this special song just cements our connection.” “The Traveller” will be released on February 2nd 2023, symbolically on 7th anniversary of O’Farrell’s passing. Available on Bandcamp and Minm exclusively.
