Nourallah Brothers
Salim and Faris Nourallah hail from El Paso, Texas. They recorded Nourallah Brothers in 1998 and it was released by Western Vinyl in 2001. The brothers have not performed or recorded since then. At the onset of 2024, Salim and Faris Nourallah had hardly spoken to each over the past twenty years. Salim had always continued to play his brother’s songs live, from “Problematico” (off of the King of Sweden) to the Nourallah brother’s classic, “I’ll Be Around.” Salim reflects, “I’ve always thought Faris was a genius songwriter, even when we weren’t speaking to each other I still listened to his music and played his songs from time to time…” Salim had started a project earlier this year of combing through the brother’s recording vaults, so to speak. He found tons of unreleased songs. “I was blown away by how fresh they sounded.” Salim states. “I could see why we didn’t release them at the time - there were so many songs floating around and these didn’t seem to ‘fit’ with the album we released.” “Nothing Ever Goes Right” is raw and immediate. Faris on lead guitar and drums, Salim on lead vocal and bass. “Like Forks and Knives” features Faris’ relaxed vocal in a Kinks-esque vignette.
