Transgalactica - Liberal Anthem
Transgalactica releases cryptic, compelling prog rock ballad, 'Liberal Anthem' This was one of the most intensely thought-provoking, gripping rock tracks we've heard in a while! Listening to this feels like being instantly transported to the forefront of the battle lines in the war for our consciousness. The father-son lead band from KrakΓ³w, Poland channels their diverse, symphonic rock, progressive, classical influences and their detailed study of psychologist Steven Pinkerβs book π¬ππππππππππππ π΅ππ to deliver an absolutely scintillating, thought-provoking discourse & sonic journey. Opening with apocalyptic, anthemic guitar arrangements and ominous organ tones, we're transfixed in attention immediately. It evokes an intoxicating sense of dread, intrigue, and excitement, all rolled up into one trance-like state. Adding to that experience is the surreal music and lyric video. A haunting, piercing visual journey through 'Liberal Anthem' with a strong, uplifting message. The opening lines, delivered in typical folk ballad style, short sing-song lines with evocative, commanding vocals, expose the bleak state of affairs humanity finds itself in. The message behind 'Liberal Anthem' was inspired by a fragment of Steven Pinkerβs book π¬ππππππππππππ π΅ππ, where professor Pinker says there is no liberal church that would glorify liberal thinkers. Transgalactica have a proposition for us all to hear loud & clear and to ponder upon. To remind us all of the forces of evil, plotting our collective demise. The ones against freedom, reason and justice. Around the 3 minute mark, the track makes a surprising, upward-trending transition. From ominous, hellish to uplifting, hopeful, gospel harmonies. The lyrics now profess a compelling invitation for a new type of faith & religion. One that stands for the liberal idea, for the greater good, a noble, human-centric approach. So, why shouldn't there be organized structures, systems, and leaders, just like we have for religion, for the principles of liberalism as extolled by great men like John Stuart Mill, Adam Smith & Steven Pinker? The track concludes on a sublime, heavenly high, high orchestral notes fading into distant victory-laden horns. Its a compelling shift from where the track began and speaks volumes to this group's ability to create compelling soundscapes. Ultimately, it must be said that Transglalactica has delivered a gem of riddling, lyrical rock ballad that will reach the ears of those seeking deeper truths and meaning. Liberal Anthem' would fit right as a soundtrack to V for Vendetta as a quintessentially Orwellian dystopia.Β
