Vamoosery-Moving Forward
Perhaps Vamoosery understand music in layers we don’t even attempt to. You’re going to be listening to a band that wants to stretch the elastic to a point, break it and try something else with a new one. With a prog themed approach that feels like Pink Floyd infused with new blues, you’re in for a treat you might not deserve. For you, with consideration, Moving Forward. The band wants the intent to be known, almost immediately. Constructed very carefully, is the prelude that leads to the opening single. The pastry like guitar sounds, multiple effects and a caged zeal for live music that lasts throughout the album. That is what this band brings to the table. Listen is as simple as the instruction can get. The dreamy vocals ensure the instrumentals recede for the lyrics to be in a warm, glowing limelight. It is prog-rock that doesn’t ask for attention, it commands it simply. If you were expecting the story to continue, you’re left in Pieces. The next single is a dramatic shuffle. The bass line and rhythm section is what is going to bring the style with a panache that is definitive. Music that yearns to be more I’m in love with the kinds of riffs that are employed in this album. Though everything is stellar in composition, you see the textures changing in the guitars as per the song. Probably my addiction to the stringed serenader comes across creepy here, but the addiction is immediate. You have rocking, bluesy experiences as well as the magic of the instrumental concave that the band enjoys. Vamoosery is one of those bands that got added to the favourites instantly. Trust in You is an indie rock miracle that shifts styles like a Genesis song. We aren’t listening to Duke, but whatever the generational equivalent might be. Adam, maybe. Immaterial, the band knows how to involve all kinds of patterns and elements in their music. The mystery is contained and celebrated in the song called Solid Ground. Song after song, another question about writing music is challenged. Time after time, the band does it absolute best to turn the question to ash. Music foundation, you ask? Why would it be necessary if the band plays with it like it is silly putty and designs Notre Dame in the process? A voyage to distant lands If their debut is a masterclass of this kind, you are in for several surprises for their eventual releases. Production has also been a mate, supporting their style and bringing out the magic. Harder rock songs like You Are Always Near sound like a cage match with all the excitement. Archaeologist sounds like a prog fanatics day and night dream. I feel this album would be a perfect fit in the soundtrack of The Lovely Bones (2009).
