The Levy Circus-Tales of the Unconnected
The Levy Circus ring through their music like it's a second language. The band has connected to their roots uniquely, letting the music speak for itself. As a band, their chemistry is tangible, you can hear it from the moment their song begins. With their latest album, they tell us tales to get addicted to, for their melodic reverence. This is called Tales of the Unconnected. From indie rock to Americana and country, they touch upon the theme of all these roots. They are stalwarts at understanding the connection between their expressive lyrics and well crafted, simple melodies. Instead of overcomplicating songs with layer after layer, they write as a band should-focused on the symphonies of the heart. The opening single is Looking Like Myself Again, which is a gorgeous rock track. Fortunately, the songs have been mixed by someone who understands live music well, and it comes together like a dream. Songwriting masters The second track Changes has a Steeler’s Wheel tone to the opening riff. It is one of those simple constructions you can immediately fall in love with. Tones are light and change texture as per the song. The Levy Circus have put in a lot of work in the sound detail that you hear in the output. Or that’s just how masterfully they groove. Uptempo grooves like Danger Zone come about with some great lyrical pockets-they like to connect with their audience with the kind of tunes they write. A peppy number is seen in Everything is Going My Way. The positives, the happy, the joyous and the great come together. The Levy Circus bleeds their effort into every song they write. As a band that understands the people it observes with great sincerity, there are a lot of parallels that can be drawn. If you were listening to Casting Shadows from any place in the world, it is a relatable essence you would be experiencing. The album might be called Tales of the Unconnected, but each song connects with you on some level. Understanding the melodies The opening riff and tune of The Hurricane is one of my favourite, it is the sunshine that you needed. The vocal progression is unique and stylish as well, exploring the range of the song. Pace is slowed down in Seriously, where vocals sound like Phil Collins. The guitar and vocals alone come together in a sparse but spectacular feel, something that can be an acoustic gem soon. The lovely tones of Own Sweet Way and On My Way Home caress your head to the departure. It is a brilliant album The Levy Circus have put together, with a lot of effort. In writing, their style and affinity to memorable, effective melodies is seen clearly. These songs would be great in the soundtrack of Crazy Heart (2009), which features some stellar acting and sequences from Jeff Bridges. Listen to their album above and follow them for more like this!
