Solari- Everyone Is Your Friend
3 h : 51 min

Solari just released their first-ever single named Everyone Is Your Friend, a synth-pop-ballad addressing loneliness. We have Solari, a character who is trapped and alone. David and Renée say that the idea was to make the song feel like being on a train in a big city. Everything is moving around you. And nothing ever stops. You are surrounded by strangers.  The beat structure in the song embodies this idea with its isolated drum, keyboard and synth beats. The vocals in the track are clear but distant in quality eliciting the need for connection. “Everyone is your friend. You’re lonely but you’re not alone” speaks of such a strange reality. In a world that connects everyone to everyone at the click of a button, there is an innate sense of detachment. The track is also peppered with Japanese lyrics and it is Solar questioning if she’s capable of loving anyone, letting someone deep inside her heart.  13 Reasons Why is a dark drama that traces back events leading to the death of Hannah Baker. She leaves behind 7 double-sided tapes detailing the instances that left her spiralling emotionally. The series comes with a strong trigger warning. Everyone Is Your Friend would be a great addition to the playlist on so many levels. it can be played in episode 11, the part of the series that’s most important. It addresses why one of our protagonists is in the tapes. Especially because the episode addresses the idea of friendship and romance. Solari leaves you in a trance with their first-ever release- Everyone is your friend. It forces you to take a better look at reality. If this is their first single, I am excited to see what they will come up with next and you should be too.
