It takes a lot of maturity to become completely vulnerable in your music. Geena Gangi brings her heartfelt musings to the fore, with minimal backgrounds attesting to the words. It is one of the most well written songs I have heard this year. It is like a letter to a loved one. The title makes more sense, as you are brought into the dynamic between the two. Vibratos from Geena’s vocals will bring you to tears, as she expertly balances melodic movements with the genuine nature of the song. You won’t hear many musicians put in the effort to scrape off all the excess to give you a wonderful, emotional and personal song. You can immediately understand why her fans have fallen in love with songs like Luna and Sugar Stained. We’re not here to just listen to her lyrics. We’re here to feel her fresh perspective of emotive expression. At the young age of 25, Geena Gangi already shows us how well she can write not just melodies, but lyrics that people can connect with. This song would be perfect in the Peacock film, Meet Cute (2022), where there are some great scenes of love in contemporary times shown well.
