Ceyeo- Ecstacy
Ceyeo released his new single- Ecstasy an eclectic mix of electric, disco and R&B. The Chicago-based artist is known for creating boundary-breaking music. While he has developed his own style of music, there is something distinctive about every single one of his tracks. Like in You Can’t hear me, we hear him play with rap and electric. In Ecstasy, we hear Ceyeo sing about Love and his ode to promises in their relationship. We don't see him play with hip-hop as much as he does in his other songs. In Ecsatcy Ceyeo successfully evokes colourful imagery with his beats. The skilful use of beats puts you directly on the dance floor. The disco is blended to perfection with modern-day EDM. Everything is heard distinctively within this song, from the drums to the guitar to the tambourine. The track has a very transient nature to it that keeps you on your toes throughout. A movie that starts off quite positively and flips you on your head is Climax by Gaspar Noe who plays brilliantly with sound and Camera angles. The film follows a group of artists on the night of their last performance before a showing. You watch as a helpless spectator throughout as they make one bad decision after another. It speaks about all sorts of love- love for the art, the hustle, romantic love and even unrequited love. Much like Ecstacy which would work exceptionally as a soundtrack in this film. Ceyeo continues to deliver, with his distinctive music that enamours listeners. To see the wide variety of songs he creates check out his page attached below.
The Loud Bangs-Stray Honey
It might be true, the saying that you turn into what you love. The Loud Bangs then, love a lot of things. On paper, what they plan to execute doesn’t work at all. It is a mishmash of many different genres that don’t belong even in the same water. That’s where their musicality comes in. Stray Honey is to shut people like me up. By the end of this rave, it works. They open the track with Electroprize. With the washed out background, you might expect someone to croon about their lovelorn era of romance. With distorted guitar chugs, they break that expectation, and the silence. You’re hooked to this post-grunge instrumental dystopia layered with heavy reverb on the vocals. Welcome to the first wisp of the daze. Sex Complex has a club song core to it. Though you’d think that the flow is maintained by just electronic elements, they amalgamate in different proportions. It is a dreamy result, sounds that flow into each other with an ease. The jangly distortion of the guitar unites more than you think it would. A fusion supreme We Want to Be Alright has some fantastic sound production. It phases between the left and right, creating something that is a stereo dream. You’re lost in the alt-shoegaze aspect of this sound. As the crisp acoustic cuts through the Northern Lights of sound, you settle in expectations. Layers condense into creating this salad of sound, fresh and diverse, yet amicably edible. This Is a Japanese Robot has the alt-rock anticipation you want. It derives from decades of digital variation in rock, creating its own niche with surprising turns. With the vocals hidden way behind in the distance, they are merely cameos in a much larger movie. There is a joy in the disorientation they depict so well with their music-a harmony you wouldn’t typically be able to find. Closing with Bell Gardens, the dream overflows into another dimension. You might be resting on the shoulders of a New Wave movement, but sandwiched between other styles. It is almost meditative in its process, and refreshingly original. Enjoy it live or as this recording, you can imagine the psychedelia strike with only how easily it forms for The Loud Bangs. The only loud bangs till now have been the pleasant shifts of change. A surreal album by a band that isn’t afraid to test the envelope. It might be a long shot, but I could place many of these in Requiem for A Dream. Not only a brilliant depiction, but the opening up of different forays in sound asks for thorough experimentation. It is a solid, fruitful effort by a collective you might never doubt again. MR - The Creeps
This unique duo- MR comes in with yet another banger on their hands. This will most definitely have you dancing to their tunes with their latest release- The Creeps. The track is all sorts of nostalgia jarred up in one track. This pop-disco number has so many references that you can pick up on. And you'll do so if you were/are a mystery, horror or retro fan. The melody in this song is strangely familiar yet so distinctive about it. The bell that starts off the song adds an eerie feeling. This is peppered with the Frankenstein or Dracula style theme melody except with an electric guitar twist. The Mary Shelly reference cannot go unnoticed as it is added to the hook. Jason Masi - Pretty
Pretty by Jason Masi is a jazzy, disco-infused pop gem that feels like a sunbeam breaking through a cloudy day. The track is a jazz- and disco-infused pop number that feels like the skies open to give us perfect disco numbers that come down on us like eagerly awaited summer rains. This catchy track is a well-balanced number that is equal parts rizz and talent. It perfectly showcases Masi’s ability to blend genres and craft a tune that’s both effortlessly cool and undeniably catchy. The track has you hooked right from the first note that bounces off your eardrums and straight to your heart. The track has a funky bassline, crisp guitar riffs, and eccentric production details that make it hard to ignore the song. Pretty has a feeling of the early 2000s. Singers just don’t woo the same in the pop genre anymore, and Jason Masi is here to flip that narrative! The track is a masterclass in balance; we have notes that thump and cut, and yet it is paired with some breezy notes, mainly from the vocals. All of this creates a number that has your heart! There is a moment in Sex Education where Eric puts make-up on Adam, and the two leave the world behind in the most innocently romantic way. This is where Pretty would fit in wonderfully. The carefree nature of the song is infectious. If you too want to break out into a dance, then this is the song for you. Click on the links attached above and let the song take over!
